Farmer’s Market Spring Fling is set for Saturday, April 2nd
Join us next Saturday, April 2nd, at the Nacogdoches Farmer’s Market to help celebrate spring in Texas’ Oldest Town. There is sure to be something to please every one of all ages, so bring the whole family down and enjoy the day with us!
The Spring Fling will get underway at 8 a.m. with live entertainment, children’s activities and much much more! Children’s Activities include: Children’s Yoga Class at 11 a.m. Egg Decorating, Recycling Demonstrations, Petting Zoo, Adoptathon and much more!
Morning Glory Yoga Studios Amy Sanford will host a Childrens Yoga class at 11 a.m.
A full morning of live entertainment is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. featuring Chris Thompson, Michael Collins, John Medford, Old Time Gospel Project and the Margaret Wright Family.
We will have over 25 vendors set up with a variety of items such as: 100 % Blue Belgian Beef, Plants and Flowers galore, Flora Garden Club Azalea Trail Cart Raffle, one of a kind jewerly, beautiful Cut Glass, hand carved benches, scrumptious pies, fresh breads, and that is just the tip of the iceburg! We promise you won’t be disappointed.
“We are so thankful for all of the wonderful organizations that work to make this such a great event!, especially Buckley, our amazing market coordinator,” said Sarah O’Brien Main Street Manager. Many thanks also goes to CASA, Healthy Nacogdoches Coalition, Head Starte, La Leche League, Morning Glory Yoga Studio, Nacogdoches Animal Service, Sierra Club, Nacogdoches Recycles, East Texas Horse Rescue, Austin Heights Baptist Church, and Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful.
Clear Springs and Auntie Pasta’s are also having their annual Crawfish Boil that afternoon just across the street at Banita Creek Hall to raise funds for Relay for Life. So come enjoy the Spring Fling and then head on over to show your support and enjoy some mudbugs.
The Nacogdoches Farmers’ Market, located at the “hitch lot” at the corner of West Main and Pearl Streets, is open from 8 a.m. until noon or later every Saturday. SFA theatre to present student-directed ‘Contribution’ (April 1 and 2)
The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre will present a student-directed production of Ted Shine’s “Contribution” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 2. All performances will be in the Downstage Theatre located on the first floor of the Griffith Fine Arts Building.
In Shine’s one-act play, a black grandmother sends her nervous grandson off to join a civil rights sit-in. At first, the elderly woman appears to stay aloof from such demonstrations, explained Round Rock senior Waldron Archer, the plays director. “But the play’s hilarious and arresting climax reveals that the grandmother has her own method of helping in the struggle for her people’s rights.”
Flower Mound senior Kyla Williams plays the grandmother, and Houston graduate student Justin Long portrays her grandson. Irving sophomore Katherine Edwards plays Katy Jones, Mrs. Love’s friend.
Previously at SFA Archer has directed “The Man Who Couldn’t Dance” and assistant directed “Almost, Maine” and “Man in the Masses.”
His SFA acting credits include “Big River,” “‘Master Harold’ . . . and the boys,” “Cornbury, the Queen’s Governor,” “Wine and Wilderness,” “Raisin in the Sun,” and “Twelfth Night.” Additionally, he is also a two-year member of The Original Cast and will appear in the “The Breasts of Tiresias” in April.

March 28: SFA Crime Log
On 3-27-2011 an Officer was dispatched to Lumberjack Lodge in reference to a Fire Alarm. Upon arrival the Officer located an intoxicated subject that was in possession of drug paraphernalia. The subject was transported to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. There is one suspect.
On 3-27-2011 an Officer was contacted by a subject who worked for a pizza delivery service. The subject stated on 3-27-2011 a subject signed a credit card receipt for a pizza that was not her pizza. The subject was located at Todd Hall and issued a citation for Theft. There is one suspect.
On 3-26-2011 an Officer was dispatched to Steen Hall in reference to a Drug Complaint. Upon arrival the Officer located a subject in possession of marijuana and in possession of drug paraphernalia at Steen Hall. There is one suspect.
On 3-26-2011 an Officer was dispatched to University Woods in reference to Burglary of a Habitation. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised on 3-26-2011 her debit card and credit card were stolen from her unsecured residence at University Woods. There are no suspects.
On 3-25-2011 an Officer was dispatched to lot 39 in reference to Criminal Mischief. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised between 3-11-2011 and 3-25-2011 his vehicle was scratched at an unknown location. There are no suspects.
On 3-25-2011 an Officer was dispatched to the Tennis Complex in reference to Theft. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised on an unknown date an umpire chair was stolen from tennis court 12. There are no suspects.
Update on Illegal Narcotics Investigation * On 3-25-2011, the University Police Department arrested 1 person associated with the on-going illegal narcotics investigation for delivery of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. As of today, there have been a total of 21 persons arrested. There are 24 suspects at this time.
