Obituary: George Samuel Burt, Sr.

George Samuel Burt, Sr., 91, of the Libby Community passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Mr. Burt was born in Nacogdoches on February 13, 1921 to parents P.C. and Mollie Powers Burt.
George worked for DuPont Chemical in La Porte, Texas where and retired after 25 years. He would go on to raise broiler chickens for the next 40 years for various companies, as each company was sold to another company; most recently he work for Tyson Foods.
George is preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters; son, Kenneth Earl Burt.
He was married and is survived by Rosia Edwards Burt; two sons, George Samuel Burt, Jr. and his wife Ann, Robert Wayne Burt; two grandsons, Matt Burt and his wife Theresa, Ross Burt; one granddaughter, Jennifer Prigge and her husband Brent; one great grandson, Brody Burt; brother, Acie Burt; sister, Katherine Brady and a host of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sisters- in- laws, Elsie Carrigan and her husband James, Jackie Fountain, Dian Crawford and Benda Edwards.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches with Bro. Tyrone Spencer and Bro. John Bingham officiating. Interment will follow at Libby Cemetery.
Friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, August 27, 2012 from 5-7 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors.
Acting pallbearers will be Matt Burt, Troy Burt, Ross Burt, Gerald Brady, Brent Prigge and W.C. “Shorty” Burt. Honorary pallbearers will be Muncie Powers, Bob Burt and Justin Bass.
Memorial contributions may be made, in honor of Mr. Burt, to Libby Cemetery Fund c/o Peggy Burt, PO 1326 CR 271, Garrison, Texas 75946.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Pokola and his staff, Memorial hospital and their staff, Garrison Nursing Home and Hospice of East Texas who loving caring for George during his final journey.

Obituary: Ethelyne Lang

Ethelyne Lang, 84, of Nacogdoches, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Medical Center in Nacogdoches.

She was born on August 19, 1928.

A funeral will take place on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 10 am at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 from 6-8 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches.

Obituary: Doretha F. Chandler

Ms. Doretha F. Chandler 70, passed away on August 25, 2012 at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 12, 1942 to parents Morris Faulkner and Emma Lee Brandon Faulkner in Nacogdoches.
She was married on June 17, 1961 to Clarence E. Chandler and they had 42 wonderful years together.
A graveside service will take place on Tuesday August 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Martinsville Cemetery with Bro. Garrel Faulkner officiating. Friends and family are invited to visitation on Monday evening at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors from 5-7 pm.
Doretha is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence E. Chandler, son, Carl Brandon Chandler; brother, Lathon Faulkner.
She is survived by sons, Clark Chandler and wife Karen, Chris Chandler; grandsons, Chase Chandler, Cason Chandler; granddaughters, Kaylyn Moody and husband Brad, Madalyn Chandler; great granddaughter Macy Moody; brothers Larry Faulkner and wife Linda, Ashley Faulkner and wife Maria; sister, Darla Davis and many nieces and nephews. Obituary: Robert Leon Hutchison

Robert Leon Hutchison, 83, passed away on August 25, 2012. He was born on April 12, 1929 in Niles, Michigan to Walter and Effie Coats Hutchison. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 with Rev. Anne Sermons Gillis and Rev. John Bingham officiating at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel. Interment will be at New Prospect Cemetery in Timpson, Texas.

Leon was a native of Nacogdoches County, graduated from Central Heights High School and Stephen F. Austin State University. He was a Certified Public Accountant for the State of Texas.

While working his way through college at Cason Monk and Company, Leon met Mary Jo Partin who was working at the candy counter at Perry Brothers. They married in 1950 and would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on August 27, 2012.

Leon served two years in the U.S. Army at Fort Riley, Kansas. He worked in the oil and gas industry in the Texas Gulf Coast area before moving to Saudi Arabia to work for ARAMCO. He returned to Houston, Texas in 1972 and continued his career in oil and gas until he retired in 1984.

After he retired, Leon and Mary Jo returned to Nacogdoches. He raised cattle, flew his airplane, continued to travel, play golf, and enjoy a slower pace of life. In 1993, Leon was elected Chairman of the Nacogdoches County Party. After serving many years as Chairman, he continued to remain active in politics. He and Mary Jo were advocates of education and supported students by establishing scholarships at SFA, Nacogdoches High School and Central Heights High School.

Leon is survived by his wife Mary Jo, sons, Steven Hutchison and wife Cheryl; Stan Hutchison and wife, Deborah; and daughter Mary Helen; grandchildren Robyn Hutchison Mendez and husband Juan; Scott Hutchison and wife, Amanda; and four great grandchildren, Julianna Mendez, Katherine Hutchison, Thomas Robert Hutchison and Autumn Hutchison.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at Cason Monk on Tuesday, August 28 from 6-8 pm.

IN RE: P12-15081- Sexual Assault; a 16 year old female, taken into custody for being a runaway, reported that a known suspect forced her to have sexual relations in a residence several days prior. The case is under investigation.
