Does anyone else have problems with your computer freezing up whenever you try to click on a link on this website? It seems that about half the time I try to view the Police Report, etc. it just locks up. Annoying.

    • Broken Arrow says:

The pages that don’t come up instant only take about 20 seconds. You must either have a really bad connection or a really old computer.

      • Davidwestafa says:

Maybe. It’s a four year old Dell with 2GB ram and a T1 connection. Maybe I’m not patient enough.

        • Broken Arrow says:

Four years these days may as well be from caveman days. Doesn’t sound that old though. Maybe it’s something like the processor or the video card. I check this site from 4 different computers and don’t have any problems unless my internet is moving very slow.

With Nacogdoches jumping on the bandwagon in the biker scene, enjoying the money brought in because we stay at your hotels, eat at your restaurants, etc…we take our children with us to most everything; so wet t-shirt contests and such are the norm. If people do not think nudity is an embarassment–then it’s not. I am not going to argue my viewpoints on this or parenthood. My question is: why is the local law enforcement an all time presence at OTT–however your local dance club “Babydolls” was shut down. People CHOSE to work here and be patrons. (Inside a building, I might add). Did the dancers for the wet-tshirt contest and “bikini” show at OTT already have their licenses?

  3. Anonymous says:

Someone really needs to contact the Sheriff’s Dept. concerning all the music and dancing going on in this town. Since they shut down BabyDolls; we hope not to see any legs, booty shorts, or the like at any of the bands performing live music (gasp) at the clubs….or heaven forbid OTT.

  9. P.O.'d says:

Well, tried to call the D.A.’s office today at 4:00 to see if my property had been recovered and they were already closed down. What the he**????

    • Huh? says:

Are you sure your suppose to call the D.A.’s office for your property? Why dont you try the Property Officer at the S.O. or P.D.? They have a full time officer in charge of property. The D.A. is only responsible in prosecuting the person who took your property. They’re not the lost and found.

      • P.O.'d says:

Yes, I’m sure I’m supposed to call the DA’s office because I’ve been working with them already, or at least trying to. I don’t need your uninformed advice about who to call. What I need is a DA’s office that is regularly open during normal working hours. This one is not.

What I want to know is, why are gas prices higher in Nacogdoches than every place around us? And why don’t we do something about it? I just don’t know where to start.

    • seeking God's way says:

Maybe if we didn’t buy gas inside the Nacogdoches city limits for a few days Denny Oil and Morgan Oil would go down. Why don’t we spread the news and try that for a few days? This could be fun!

  12. Central Heights : voter, tax payer, resident, and parent says:

I feel that all of this negativity toward Central Heights School, the Schools Board of Directors, Supertendant, Church, and members of our community is not just. We have had a great community where the different religions could always get along and even share in some functions. Our school has made tremendous steps in the right direction with the new facilities, great staff, wonderful administration and a terrific board of directors. It takes a majority of the board to vote anything in or not in as well as it takes a group of people to make great things possible. We have been a fairly religious community but reading the post on this web site really makes you wonder. It is true that what goes up must come down. Are we ready to allow all of the angry people to make us look so bad? The opposite sides needs to talk in person and work out their differences. That is what the Bible tells us to do. Why taint the beginning of our childrens new school year, in such a beautiful facility, that many people worked hard to make happen, over petty adult problems. The adults need to act like adults. If you want things different there is a right way to handle it. If your problems are with a church go to the pastor, or elders/deacons of the church. If your problem is with the school go to the Supertendant/ or the school board members. Go to a board meeting and let your voices be heard in the appropriate venue. If yor have a problem with a person talk to them directly and not behind their back. We are all neighbors and need to get along. I would hate for a few people to ruin the community, school and friendship that we work on building during our lifetime.

Lets get back to doing whats right for everybody not just a few. HOW MANY MORE BOARD MEMBER HAVE STRING ATTACHED I HOPE THEY ARE NOT ALL PUPPETS!!!!!HOW ABOUT THE SUPERINTENDENT DOES HE !!

What’s the matter? You weren’t invited? Such slander……very sad…..nice people you’re bashing ….. always bringing kids from all churches together. If you disagree w decision, that’s fine, but the personal attack lacks respect and class……and kind spirit.

      • Sinner 2 Sinner says:

Ok so is it a “sin” for a group of friends to get together and go to the beach? Is is a ” sin” for a friend to play a joke on her husband and take a picture with two guys standing next to her? You gossipers need to take another look at those pictures and you will see nothing but a group of women laughing and having a good time! ( the have no alcohol no are they drunk– it’s obvious!) just because you don’t like one or all of them, or maybe you have become crossways with them doesn’t mean you have to slander their name. We ALL sin everyday, wether it be in our own homes, in a group of friends or on this website. This lady you are slandering is accountable to one person and that is the Lord. Just remember when you are pointing your finger at someone there are three more pointing back at you.

        • Shameonyou says:

Amen sister!! Don’t know ya but I like ya!! I am a christian and have gone to the beach and even drank a glass of wine…and I’m still a christian. I do however know this lady(many years) that was being lied about. A good person and surely not a drunk! That part is ridiculous…..and what a horrible thing for miss anonymous to say! Part of being a Christian is not acting with mal intent to another human being
          AkA, be kind…..Love thy neighbor….

      • Passionate says:

What’s your definition of a church? If you’re going to allow your own hypocrisy to show by criticizing another instead of encouraging one another in Christ, you need to get some things straight. A CHURCH isn’t a place where perfect people go with their perfect lives and glorify God. It’s a place for us average people- us people who everyday struggle with sin and pray to God that we don’t let it consume us. No one living on this Earth right now is perfect. I don’t know the facts, whether or not someone got drunk or not, and honestly, it doesn’t matter. That decision is between that person and God. It’s not something that us as believers and us as fellow human beings should go around gossiping about and slandering names. If two people on the school board are attending said church, awesome. That tells me that at least two of the school board members will hopefully include God in their decisions. Personally, I thank God that the school was capable of allowing a church to use its facility. It tells me that God hasn’t completely left our schools yet.

                  At least they aren’t
Out doing drugs…….is this about this or something else like power and satisfaction. Those kids aren’t hurt in a thing. Let em be. School Board Members, this should be enough complaints to have this discussed in next meeting. Why should the community have to point out these issues at the school and your not aware of this. This has stepped out of the boundaries! School has no issue with the bible verses…but if all these points are true about the preacher and attendies then our school should not allow.

I know this group of people/kids and they are awesome. My niece actually got saved with this group of childrenat church camp and attended many church functions ,as did many other children, even though they are not members of that church. They are good people. I also know the ugly character bashing that is being done is totally unfounded and just a pure falsehood. Don’t believe everything you read about a person because sometimes the person that writes it is the one with the agenda.

    • PHMBC Member and CHISD TAxpayer says:

I’m sorry I just have to respond to this. Not only does the State mandate how the school’s post positions avalable such as outside the Superintendant’s office, the local news paper and the school’s website. If you were so worried about this position you would have known not one but three positions were open. No others signed up, which was a good thing, because then we as a community didn’t have to have an election and costs us more on taxes. Next, if you knew this young man man at all you would know not only was he a Deacon, a Trustee, a teacher on Wednesday nights, a faithful leader in our church. It’s obvious you don’t know this young man at all. He was also a member of our church during this vote, as well as three other board members. So, before you start making accusation’s on someone make sure you have your facts straight first. This is a very faithful, upstanding young man in our community, and I hate to see rumors being made about him.

In the political section, it needs to be brought to someones attention that there is not a Democratic Party. The correct identity is the Democrat Party. Anyone can be democractic but not be a Democrat. Thank Goodness.

  16. Booger says:

What is up with SFA doing away with Lumberjack Alley??? Who thinks this will help attendance to the football games? Just when you get a good thing going somebody has to put a stop to it. Why?

  17. BUDGET WATCHER says:

Has anyone else noticed they are trying to cut funds to the constables? Why is it when something starts working well (Jason Bridges) they have to come along and get rid of it? Are the people in charge getting a cut or something? Maybe they are just good friends with the meth heads that Bridges has arrested.

Whatever the reason, it’s really insulting when anyone EVER wants to take money away from a law enforcement agency while budgeting in a big raise for themselves.

    This has to be addressed!

    • BW Jr. says:

Jason is doing an awesome job. Maybe the commissioners should give back the big honkin’ raise they gave themselves last year.

    • Anonymous says: says:

This NEEDS to be addressed !! It would be CRAZY for our commissioners to cut back the funding to our constables ! They are FINALLY cleaning up Nacogdoches County !! If anybody has a problem with how Jason Bridges has been doing his job, then I would personally take offense to that ! I DO NOT and WILL NOT support all these meth-heads in this county. And I WILL NOT sit back and just let our commissioners take up for them in any way whatsoever, without doing or saying something about it. I feel like if any of these meth-heads have strings attached to any of our commissioners, then it’d be best for them to be exposed and cut now too. They are our ELECTED officials. Look at how it has been recently exposed about some of these meth-heads having obvious strings attached already to one of our elected officials (Judge Perkins) ! This is absolutely CRAZY ! This needs to be brought to the publics attention ! I am sure that I am NOT the ONLY voter in Nacogdoches County that feels this way. When is enough going to be enough when it comes to all these Meth-heads ???

      • seeking God's way says:

I agree. Jason Bridges is the best thing to happen to Nacogdoches County in a long time. I think I’ll make him a cake!!!!!!!

  19. gimlet says:

Mainly because Constable Bridges and his deputies are not afraid to get out and work. And they are doing a good job.

  20. Booger says:

Why is it that when I read the sheriffs report and there is a burn ban violation by a hispanic they get a warning and when it is not they are issued a citation? I think you need to issue a citation to them too. Just because they ACT like they cannot speak english or did not know about it should not be cause for overlooking the offense. Otherwise issue only warnings to everyone!

    • realist says:

Because they have no ID, don’t show up for court and will just use a different name each time they receive a citation.

So what is the point of issuing a citation? It is just a waste of time and paper.

    • Anonymous2 says:

Because the people in Pct 4 were tired of all the drugs and crime and voted for someone who they knew would get the job done. We in Pct 4 are proud to have Jason Bridges and his constables cleaning up our part of the county.

  22. gimlet says:

Okay. So the State has all these millions of dollars in the bank that are earmarked for paying fire departments for deployments to the west texas fires. But, they are sitting on that money, drawing interest, and will not issue checks for 90 days after all the required paperwork has been filed. This is hurting some small vfds who did not have the money on hand to pay for fuel, insurance, etc.

  23. gimlet says:

Is the State of Texas stiffing those firefighters who responded to the wildfires in West Texas and their departments? Several cities who sent manpower and equipment have already incurred expenses, and received no funds from the state. Some of the smaller VFDs also are having to bear their costs and not getting reimbursement from Austin. Many of them do not have the income to absorb the costs of fighting these fires.

  24. gimlet says:

It (higher gas prices) has been this way for as long as I have been in Nac. Sorry, I am not a BIN (Born in Nac). Seems as though the local distributors like to gouge locals. Shop Nac First? What a JOKE!

    • treble clef says:

You are correct in that the prices on gas have been fixed for as many years as I can remember and I am a BIN. As far as shopping Nac first, I’m all for that. However, I’m afraid the employers of Nac do not have the philosophy of “hiring” Nac taxpaying citizens first. Their reply will be, “We need to get the best employees we can (college students, or wives of college professors). What I have to say to that is that I need to stop for the best prices and quality I can get as well. I have absolutely no remorse in shopping online or going out of town because I am just like the employers of Nac, I want the best deal I can get.

I have seen local, taxpaying citizens of families who have paid taxes into the NISD for years being rejected because the SFASU coach came to town with a teacher who needed a teaching position. I could go on and on, but that’s the way it goes. However, when the shoe is on the other foot, it’s buy Nac. Sorry, I’m old now and it’s been this way since I was a kid living in a “suburb” of Nac. It’s just that we all can get the best now because the shoppers now have very good choices and since Nac doesn’t care about their hometown people when they get ready to do their hiring, I don’t care about shopping local. Turn about is fair play.
