Thursday January 12, 2012 – Friday January 13, 2012
On 1-12-2012 an Officer was dispatched to Steen Hall in reference to Criminal Mischief. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised that on an unknown date a glass window covering the fire extinguisher on the seventh floor of the east tower was broken. There are no suspects.

On 1-8-2012 an Officer located four broken windows at University Woods Apartments. This incident remains under investigation to determine if property is missing from the apartments. One apartment has been checked by the resident and found no property missing. There are no suspects.

This weekend at the Farmer’s Market
Things to look for: baked goods (breads, cakes, cookies & pies), candles, canned goods (wild-picked jams & jellies including may haw, blackberry, blueberry, muscatine and wild plum as well as jams, marmalades, preserves, chow-chow, pickled vegetables, salsas & relishes), ceramics, artisan Texas cheeses, corn meal, free-range eggs, herbs (basil, coriander, mint, oregano, parsley, rosemary & thyme), dried herbs, local raw honey, jewelry, plants (house plants, bedding plants, trees & whips), smoothies, soaps (lye and herbal), ribboncane syrup, tamales, vinegars and fruit wines. LOCAL PRODUCE: frozen shelled beans (butter, baby Lima & pinto), unshelled pinto beans, broccoli, cabbages, carrots, greens (collard, kale, mustard, spinach, Swiss chard & turnip), kohlrabi, mixed lettuce, frozen okra, onions (red, yellow & white), fresh shelled peas (black-eyed, lady cream, zipper cream, brown Crowder & purple hull), frozen peas (black eye, zipper cream, brown Crowder & purple hull), pecans (cracked, shelled & unshelled), new potatoes, squash (acorn, banana, butternut, kushaw, patti pan, piñata, spaghetti & Turk’s turban), radishes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes (cherry, green & slicer) & turnips.

The Nacogdoches Farmers’ Market, located at the “hitch lot” at the corner of West Main and Pearl Streets, is open from 8 a.m. until noon or later every Saturday morning. If the market parking lot is full, additional parking is available in the Nacogdoches County Courthouse Annex parking lot.
Please note that the Farmer’s Market is a “Smoke Free” facility for the health of our customers and vendors.

New chamber website, publications ready for Operation Thank You!
New for Nacogdoches is the Nacogdoches.org website, re-skinned to coordinate with the 2012 Nacogdoches Guide & Chamber Directory and the City & County Street Map.

While anyone may view Nacogdoches.org with internet access, Chamber directors and volunteers will personally deliver the new publications to as many Chamber members as possible during Operation Thank You! set for Jan. 18 through 20. “It’s our way to thank you for your chamber membership and support,” said chamber Chairman Lee Smith, Axley & Rode, L.L.P.
The ninth annual Operation Thank You! – presented by Austin Bank – kicks off at 7:15 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 18 with a come-and-go breakfast at the Chamber office, 2516 North St. There is no cost for attending the breakfast but registration is requested. Gold level event sponsor is NacogdochesMedicalCenter.
“The all-new website is filled with up to the moment information about members, chamber news and an area calendar,” said Angela Wiederhold of Point A Media and chamber incoming chairwoman. “Nacogdoches.org showcases Living in Nacogdoches, Moving to Nacogdoches, Retiring in Nacogdoches and business networking in the Nacogdoches community.
“The new design, consistent in all 2012 chamber material, incorporates bold colors giving an updated twist to traditional woodcut patterns and aged textures. The combined colors and graphics create a modern backdrop for the site that calls back to the rich history behind Texas’ first city.” Wiederhold said. “It takes our entire team to put this project together. In addition to the incredible design, the publication is filled with new information about our community.”
