Monday January 16, 2012 – Tuesday January 17, 2012

On 1-17-2012 an Officer was dispatched to Griffith Hall in reference to a fire alarm. Upon arrival the Officer discovered that unknown person(s) had activated the pull station fire alarm, when there was not an emergency. There are no suspects.

On 1-16-2012 an Officer was dispatched to Griffith Hall in reference to subjects drinking inside a residence. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the subjects. The Officer located alcohol inside a residence and discovered that one of the subjects was 21 years of age and had furnished alcohol to a minor. There are two suspects.

On 1-16-2012 an Officer observed a subject near the East College Cafeteria that the Officer knew has been previously banned from SFA campus. The Officer made contact with the subject and placed him under arrest for criminal trespass. The subject was transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail without incident. There is one suspect.

On 1-16-2012 an Officer was dispatched to Lot 10 in reference to Hit and Run. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with two witnesses who advised on 1-16-2012 they observed a vehicle strike another vehicle in lot 10 and leave without providing information. There is one suspect.

Obituary: Thomas Dan Stanaland

     Funeral services for Thomas Dan Stanaland will be Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 10:00 am at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel located at 5400 North Street, Nacogdoches, Texas with Bro Neal Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Springs Cemetery in Appleby, Texas.

     Mr. Stanaland passed away January 16, 2012 in Nacogdoches. He was born December 16, 1938 in Nacogdoches County to Julius Roscoe and Tom Stanaland. He is a graduate of Garrison High School and Baytown Police Academy. He served as an officer for the Baytown Police force from 1967 – 1971. He served as Nacogdoches County Detective, Nacogdoches County Chief Deputy and Jail Administrator as well as commander of the Deep East Texas Task Force. He loved fishing, camping and traveling. He also enjoyed Harley motorcycles. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren greatly enjoyed spending time with their Pa.

     He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lucille Stanaland; son and daughter-in law, Martin and Laura of Nacogdoches, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Cindi and Mark Schaeffer of Garrison, Texas; grandchildren, Whitney Dees and husband Callis of Cushing, Texas; Bradley Svehla of Garrison, Texas; Bryan Badeaux and Chelsea Stanaland of Nacogdoches, Texas; great-grandchildren, Emily, Harlie and Callie of Cushing, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Forrest Ray and Jann Stanaland of Garrison; sister and brother-in-law Martha Ann and Ronnie Stanaland of Nacogdoches, Texas.

     He is preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Tom Stanaland, brother William Paul Stanaland and son, Mark Allen Stanaland.

     Visitation will be Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, Nacogdoches, Texas. The family would like to express special thanks to Nacogdoches Dialysis Center. Memorial donations may be made to: Mt. Union Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Obituary: Phyllis Faye Carney

     Mrs. Phyllis Faye Carney, 70, passed away peacefully at her home in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born on August 15, 1941 in Moorhead, Mississippi to parents Thomas Henry Wise and Pearl Luster Wise.

     She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Wallace Carney.

     Funeral service will be on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel at 10:00 am, with Ellis Reynolds, from the East Main Church of Christ, officiating.

     Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors located at 5400 North Street, Nacogdoches, Texas 75965.
