Obituary: Billy Mosby Walters

A memorial service for Billy Mosby “Moe” Walters will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, with private interment at Oak Grove Cemetery in Nacogdoches. Brother Jerry L. Wilson, pastor of Westside Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate.

Visitation for friends and family will be Friday, March 1, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Cason Monk-Metcalf.

Billy passed away suddenly Monday, February 25, 2013 in Nacogdoches.

Billy Mosby “Moe” Walters was born in Nacogdoches on August 4, 1938, to Retha Mosby Walters and Willie O. Walters. He attended public school in Nacogdoches ISD and graduated with “The Class of ’56.” He retired from NIBCO of Texas in 1988 with 30 years of service as Product Design Engineer.

He was a member of the Stripling Island Hunting Club for almost 50 years. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his trips to Alaska, especially his fishing trip to Yakatat with his “island buddies.” He looked forward to playing cards each week with his friends. He was proud to be a member of “The Class of ’56,” never missing a class reunion.
Billy was a member of the Baptist faith. He was saved at Fredonia Hill Baptist Church as a youth.

He was married to the love of his life for 51 years, Billie Marie Spencer of Douglass, Texas, July 29, 1961, in Douglass. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kelle Dee Strickland (Matt) of Huntington, Texas, and Mollie Ann Trawick (Michael) of Jacksonville, Texas. He loved and took great pride in his four grandchildren, Katherine Foxworth, Noe Foxworth, Alena Trawick, and Kristina Parrish. He is also survived by a brother Leon Bruce Lindsey, Jr., of Bryan, Texas; brother-in-law, Paul Spencer (Marcil) of Nacogdoches, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willie O. Walters; mother, Retha Mosby Blount; and sister, Sara Walters Blount (Guy).

The family suggests memorial contributions to Douglass Scholarship Fund, Douglass ISD, 20712 S. FM 225, Douglass, TX 75943; Westside Missionary Baptist Church, 3109 Durst St., Nacogdoches, TX 75964-5603; or a charity of choice.
