Two charged with stealing tractor

The Nacogdoches County Sheriff Office has arrested one man, and issued a warrant for another after the two suspects attempted to steal a tractor. Deputies were dispatched to the area of Cr. 262 Monday afternoon in reference to a theft in progress. Deputies arrested Joey Van-Cooper Smith after finding him in possession of stolen property.

After further investigation, Deputies found that Smith and another suspect; David Heath Parker had attempted to steal a tractor that was parked behind a residence in the woods. The suspect’s used another tractor to pull the stolen tractor out of a wooded area and crank it. The suspect’s then used their tractor to also steal a Bush Hog Mower. Both suspects then went different directions on both tractors and with the stolen Bush Hog Mower. As Deputies arrived in the area, they found Smith on his tractor with the stolen Bush Hog Mower near Cr. 262. After further investigation, Deputies were able to locate the stolen tractor that had been left at a residence on Appleby Sand Road. The suspect, David Heath Parker had already fled the scene and has not been located at this time.

Joey Van Cooper Smith 26 years of age from Nacogdoches, Texas was arrested for Theft, State Jail felony and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail. A Warrant has been issued for the arrest of David Heath Parker, 23 years of age for Theft, a State Jail Felony.

    Hey Joey. I think it’s really badass of you for stealing that tractor. I am so sorry that you got caught. If you didn’t get caught I would come over and ride on that tractor baby ;).
