SECURITY ADUIT REPORTS NPD IN FULL COMPLIANCE

The Nacogdoches Police Department was recently shown to be in full compliance with security policy concerning criminal justice information records.

The NPD underwent a security audit in June by the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Justice Information System Security Office. The on-site audit examined many areas, including the security of computer networks, mobile data terminals and record keeping. Also inspected was the training records of personnel that are involved with the use and maintenance of the system.

“The CJIS security audit insures that protected information cannot be viewed or received by unauthorized persons. It is an affirmation that the data that we are entrusted with is secure”, said Nacogdoches Police Chief Jim Sevey.

“It is a wonderful thing that we are 100 % compliant. We take confidentiality very seriously”, the Chief added.

The department will be due for another audit in three years.
