Obituary: Ima Watson Stringer 1920 – 2012

     Services for Ima Watson Stringer, age 91, of Nacogdoches will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, 5400 North Street, Nacogdoches, with Bro. Milton Poindexter officiating. Interment will follow at Attoyac Cemetery in San Augustine County.

     Mrs. Stringer passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012, in Nacogdoches.

     Born in the Norwood community of San Augustine County, on February 21, 1920, she was the daughter of the late E.O. Watson and Etha Wise Galloway. She was married to John E. Stringer in 1937 and they were married for 60 years. He preceded her in death. She was a member of Goyens Hill Baptist Church, the National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century, and Order of the Eastern Star, Nacogdoches Chapter #428. She also loved genealogy and reading books.

     Survivors include her son, M.L. Stringer of Corsicana; daughter, Susan Williams and husband Roy Jon of Nacogdoches; daughter, Weda Upchurch and husband Fred of Nacogdoches; granddaughters, Cindy Stringer Belew and husband David of Corsicana, Misty Stringer Sapp and husband Leroy of Clifton, Texas, and Michele Pierce Simpson and husband Preston of Nacogdoches; grandsons, Stony Pierce and wife Jennifer and Jody Pierce and wife Cassie, all of Nacogdoches; great-grandchildren, Stormy Jones, Zachary Rogers, Tristin Belew, Austin Stewart, Tyler and Marshall Halls, Hali and Coby Simpson, and Arin, Chase, and Ryder Pierce; and a sister-in-law, Lovenner (Sis) Watson.

     In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Stringer is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Dionee Smith Stringer; and three brothers, W.L. Watson, A.L. Watson, and Pat Galloway.

     Visitation will be held Monday, February 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf.
