Babydolls shut down and all employees arrested (photos included)

A poll has been added between the pictures and the comments.

The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s office shut down the club Babydolls Saturday night for violating an order regarding the laws of Sexually Oriented Businesses. All employees were arrested and charged with a misdemeanor crime of operating the establishment without a license.

Exact wording of the
“NACOGDOCHES COUNTY SEXUALLY ORIENTED BUSINESS ORDER”
(3) ADULT CABARET means a night club, bar, restaurant, or similar commercial establishment which regularly features:

A. Persons who appear in a state of nudity; or
B. Live performances which are characterized by the exposure of “specified anatomical area” or by “specified sexual activities”; or
C. Films, motion pictures, video cassettes, slides, or other photographic reproductions which are characterized by the depiction or description of “specified sexual activities” or “specified anatomical area”.

One of our readers suggested a poll and we think that’s a great idea.

Are you in support or against the recent shutdown of Babydolls?

There are a lot of people talking about this Babydolls issue and for the most part its all just people talking either about the fact that they support what went down or that they think it was bullshit. Well i feel that I can comment on this issue because I was one of the LUCKY ones that got arrested in this so called sting. First of all all of us employees should not have been taken to jail for this charge of not having a sob license . I have been with this club for almost 2 years and have never heard anything about such a license. The sheriff stated that the club and all employees had to have one to operate , but the sheriff is the one that issues these license. About three months ago the sheriff and other city officials came in the club to check our business license and nothing was said about this sob license, now your going to tell me that the man who issues these license just now happened to find out we did not have one. I know that alot of you out there dont like places like babydolls and even though there is no drug use or prositution allowed in the club you still have a problam with this club thats fine you can think what you want . But to arrest law abidding people for going to work is a misuse of power by Nacogdoches county and if they did this to us who is next? Btw to all those who support us thank you and to all those who dont well whatever.

    • Angry Dancer says:

Thank you for being brave enough to step up and say something so soon after the bust. Our industry has been allowed to be demonized because no one wants to speak up about their involvement in the industry. Thank you again for being proud enough to stand up for what’s right and speak the truth.

  3. Leslie Nielsen says:

    That’s quite a bust.

  4. Hilarious says:

this place is a joke. i laughed my ass off at this. some middle-aged tight wad nacogdoches aristocrat must have complained. the nacogdoches legal system is corrupt, everyone knows this.
what they need to do is raid the ghetto next.
all 4 of them. (on every side of town.)
but we all know the crackers that “serve and protect” are a slimy lot of pussies, which is why it’s so easy to raid BabyDolls and place underprivileged and un-educated women in cuffs.
maybe some of them will have charges dropped. just give the sheriff a *******, as i’m sure he hasn’t had one in years.

    • Angry Dancer says:

While I don’t entirely disagree with your opinions regarding the police, I find a lot of what you’ve said to be highly offensive. Several of these dancers are just as “privileged” as any other middle class citizen in the area and educated/intelligent to boot. The only thing that has caused us to be “underprivileged” is the embarrassment this bust and media publicity (particularly KTRE, who has gone so far as to remove comments from employees speaking the truth on their website) has caused us.

      • Anonymous says:

AMEN! As a dancer, married, with children, I worked my way through SFA, paid taxes, and now work as a legal advisor. HA, go figure. Most of the people in this business…CHOSE to!! They are no more hookers than your local daycare teacher who sleeps with ‘whoever’, your next door neighbor’s husbands cousin….blah blah. WWJD? Stop judging, and support people who are trying to stand up for they’re rights given to them in AMERICA by our young men/women who are fighting for that very thing.

  5. Annonymous says:

Time to vote Kerss out of office. This is not the only boondoggle he has been involved in.

    • WTF says:

How do we do that? (yea some of us are young and ignorant and should know more but disregard that – how do we know when to go vote for a new sheriff?)

      • Annonymous says:

First register to vote. You can do that at the courthouse and do it now.

I think Kerss may be on the ballot in November, judging from the timing of this raid I would think so. You will start seeing campaign signs everywhere when elections are near. This blog will likely have election information posted when the time nears.

Next get involved. Donate to his opponent. If you don’t have the spare money to donate you can donate your time by volunteering for the campaign.

Third, get the word out with friends and family to go and vote against him. If you know of people without transportation go pick them up and take them to vote.

The people have the power in a democracy, you just have to vote.

        • WTF says:

Hey thank you. I don’t know where to find this stuff out, so this is very helpful. I’m gonna do what I can. Obviously this dude’s gotta go. This whole thing is just ridiculous and screams injustice. Or incorrect justice, maybe. Thanks again :)

          • Booger says:

Ok, I hope you don’t take this wrong but…
If you really did not know where to vote and when to vote then I am not sure I want you to cast a vote. You really need to be informed when making a decision. We don’t need people to vote how others tell them to. You can vote for whomever you wish. I just hope you are more informed before you cast a vote.

            • Angry Dancer says:

As the poster mentioned, they are young and quite probably is only just now becoming involved in politics. Because an individual is young and is just beginning to learn the process does not mean that they don’t have opinions of their own.

  6. Ex-Dancer Bella says:

This whole thing is horribly wrong, I understand shutting it down until the situation is fixed, it would be horrible for the girl, poor things, but understandable. However to expect a dancer to know of the licenses for the club etc., stupidity at it’s finest, I remember a long time ago my first night i asked if it was required as do most girls that start up there, I was told no due to the fact that is was a bikini club not nude there was no reason for a license. if this has been changed then they should have informed the employees not arrested them…sounds to me like a few coppers just wanted to fulfill a fantasy for free….got to love the crooked justice system.

    • WTF says:

You’ve hit the nail on the head. The bottom line is that all the dancers and the dj and all who got arrested didn’t have any idea laws were being broken. If the owner of a restaurant didn’t have some “food selling” license or something, there’s no way that the servers and the guy playing the music would get arrested.

On top of that – the argument is that “undercover officers saw nudity”. Well why the **** didn’t they arrest the girl breaking the law right there on the spot?! If that’s what the problem was – that some of the dancers were doing illegal things how does that then become cause for arrest for the owner – much less all the other employees? I’m totally not buying this – everybody knows baby dolls is a ****ty excuse for a “gentlemans club”. It’s reputation is exactly that they *DO* follow all the laws and that makes it a pretty damn boring place to go. Somethings wrong here….seriously

  7. Doll employee says:

So everyone is entitled to thier own opinions. All of you that want to talk down on all of us girls are the ones that should be ashamed. I hate nothing to hide working there. I never did anything I was told not to do byy boss. If I was aware I needed a license I would’ve been more than happy to get one. Don’t judge us for the choices we make. We don’t judge you for your wrongs. Yes the mugshots are public records. I guess it’s ok for everyone else to post nudity all over the Internet with these pictures though. Isn’t that why we were arrested?? Just saying. Oh well . The doors will open eventually so I guess thanks for all the promotion.

    • NAC REZ says:

Ignorance of the law is not an excuse, but take this as a learning experience. Yes you should fight what ever charge was brought against you. That is your right. If you want to continue in this profession obtain your permits, verify the establishment has its permits and all will be well. I’ve never been to a club like this nor do I care to, but everyone has to make a living so more power to ya. I know I couldn’t do what you do. As for the photos that were posted, there was no nudity. Trust me I looked.

    • Crookedcops says:

Hope none of the employees plead guilty. These charges shouldn’t stick. Also a class A misdemeanor will hurt your record, don’t let them stick you with it.

  8. Donnie says:

This is ridiculous. Regardless of your opinion of whether this is an honest living or no, the dancers should not be held responsible for the owners and operators mistakes. They are employees and more than likely have nothing to do with the management side. I personally haven’t been to Babydolls, nor have any inclination to, but i support people making money the way they can. And all of the ignorant people that wanna trod on these women, you are more detrimental to society than they are. t least what they did was behind a door. Your posts and comments are visible to all who read this. Way to represent this fine city with your backwards thinking and unintelligent drivel. All they were doing was working.

Also, this smells fishy, like somebody needed more press or something to do. Even the officers faces reflect a feeling of unease. As for the pictures being posted, thats legal, get over it.

Im sure with a good lawyer all of these charges against the “lower” employees can be dropped. But the management is getting what it deserves. They broke the law, now they have to pay for it.

    *bows out*

  9. bloodfist666 says:

I smell a lawsuit a brewing! Just a little note to the cops out there…forgetting to read someone their rights when arrested is a big no no. HAHAHA!!!

    • My rights says:

I wonder why they didn’t read them their rights when they handcuffed them

      • bloodfist666 says:

They were hoping to find a huge pile of drugs or uncover a prostitution ring of sorts, but when they didn’t find nothing (and because the media was there before the cops) they came up with an idea to arrest everyone there for not having a license, which is B.S. because Sheriff Kerss came in 3 months prior to help us with the renewal of the building permit and the tax i.d. but failed to mention anything of a license for all employees to have. Noone told any of us that we had to have one. Sheriff Kerss is the one who issues these licenses as well. Noticed that reelection time is coming up and he just had to have this under his belt. Like I said…big law suit coming up. Can’t wait to read that in the papers. Maybe the money used will help to renovate the place and make it real nice and classy so we can rub it in the county’s face! HAHAHA!!! Stupid crooked cops and their dumb sheriff Kerss!

      • Anonymous says:

you do not have to read rights immidiately. You can read rights while in jail. They are only there to protect to person from getting themselves screwed. If you hadn’t been read your rights, everything not related to the offense is not allowed to be used against you. IE if you saw you love meth and rape, it can’t be used against you if your rights haven’t been said. etc. etc. It gets complicated. But They all deserved to be gone, the place needs to be burned along with all the liquor stores, and I’m gonna build a huge Bucky’s that extends on both sides of the highway with a sky bridge overlooking the mighty Angelina.

        • The Dude says:

Well please include a gentleman’s club and a liquor store in the new complex. You will be sitting on a gold mine if you did.

It could be like Carl’s Corner. You might could even get Willie to play there.

        • Angry Dancer says:

Rights are supposed to be read at the time of arrest. Even if they weren’t, no rights were read to any employee, at the scene or in jail- big legal flop that is going to lead to a lot of issues for the Nac county sheriff.

    • Angry Dancer says:

      Lawsuits ARE a-brewing.

  10. bloodfist666 says:

These cops have no right to charge these girls or the employees for not having a license. None of them knew they were suppose to have one. If anything, they need to fine the management or the the owner of the place. Most of these girls are single mothers who have been beat on by their ex-husbands and have been shunned from society and have had several occurrences with the law before hand and have a hard time finding a job elsewhere. So they turn to Babydolls who has bouncers who do watch the dances in the back and (I know for a fact nothing happens back there cause I used to watch em) and make money by dancing on stage. Some people on this page need to not judge others and walk a mile in one of these girls dancing shoes…and we will see who is whining then. These girls work hard and do the best they can and are fortunate to have a place like Babydolls to fall back on in hard times, cause Lord knows we living in em’ and times just got harder for these women and men. These cops are just as crooked as the crooks who break into your house and steal your stuff and just so happen to slip on your kitchen floor and turn around and sue you for it and win. Our system is crooked and only God judges.

  11. formerly known as mama desire says:

The thing about the pics being posted is it has always been illegal to have pics taken inside that club during business hours so y is it legal to take them and post them during the sting? Those girls are not all bad either! 75 percent of the ones talking crap about the place/dancers have either been in there or dreamed of being in the limelight themselves but never had the nads to do it! Plenty of the clients were “model upscale citizens” who down the lifestyle in public and ashamed of their inner fantasies! Yes, the place needed a makeover but there r worse looking places in nac! When people wanted to live on the wild side they came in there and had a great time! These people know they have a choice! They r not stupid! Don’t judge what they choose to do bcuz ur hussband/boyfriend went there or someone u know’s spouse/loved one went and u never had the courage to!

  12. anonymous says:

PLEASE !! Since when is pole dancing, and basically “flat-backing” making an “honest” living?? It’s a disgrace to HONEST women !! And if they were so worried about their profession being publicised with these pictures, then they shouldn’t have been doing something filthy like that in the first place. It’s not like they were not already making themselves available to the public anyway !!! These so-called “dancers” are just typical everyday pawns for that kind of low class activity, and that’s nothing new, that’s reality !!! They are ONLY “victims” to their own stupity for choosing that kind of profession !!! So why start whining about it now ?? It would be their own fault for being such a dumbass !!!

    • whatstheREALstory says:

What filthy things were they doing? Since you have been there, do tell. They werent even nude. Do you SEE nudity in these pictures?? What about all the nudity running around Walmart then? They were not allowed to run get dressed during a raid silly. Ok one girl had pot. I’m willing to bet one employee at Walmart/Kroger/Walgreens/etc, blah, blah has pot on them—does everyone maybe including you for being there get arrested? These people got arrested for going to work.

    • Relative of a worker says:

Wow. Why are you so upset and angry? Just breathe deep and remove that stick slowly!

  13. Nacog residence says:

They say those pictures are public, then why didnt they post all of them? What about the charges against those for possession? They censored those from the public. They don’t show those because the point is to make a example out of this service.

they took it too far for arresting the dancers. How is a 20 year old responsible for an obscure license that the business owner should of had or suppose to educate the employees on? They lost their jobs, then you arrest them for a business license! It may be the law that says the dancers are responsible, but it’s not ethical. it’s like arresting a dish washer for the restaurant owner not having health permits.

It seems they arrested everyone because they had an axe to grind or maybe the sheriff’s a religious zealot and likes to force his morales down others.

    • Nac pack says:

      Great post Nacog Resident.

It’s a ridiculous bust if I ever heard one, something that really shouldn’t hold up in a court of law.

Looks like they were fishing for an excuse to shut the place down.

  14. Dancer says:

Who’s that fine redhead.. I’ll give him a lap dance!

  15. Good Ridden says:

Whether or not they are single mothers trying to make a living, stripping for money is not an honest living. It is time that Nacogdoches county finally either put a huge fine associated with the receiving of the permit or continue to put the employees and the owner of the establishment in jail. It is sad when the first thing you see when as a new student to SFA or as a visitor to the city of Nacogdoches is the run down establishment. They need to not allow that type of business at all.

    • The Dude says:

I agree Nacogdoches needs a nicer gentlemans club like Time Out in Tyler. Baby Dolls was a dump, but it was all we had.

They could at least resurface the parking lot and add some landscaping out front.
Maybe buy a decent limo instead of that old broken down town car.

  16. news guy says:

They are allowed to post pictures its a matter of public record. Sheriff and police departments release photos from crime scenes all the time to the media (drug busts, prostitution stings, etc.) Im pretty you can also get mug shots online from nac sheriff dept so dont be surprised if see your mug shot on the 10 oclock news and Im sure the area news channels will use these pics tonight.

    • Gia says:

I guess they failed to post the pictures where they forced a dancer to remain naked while they cuffed her. Good job news guy, when your little girl grows up to be just like us, I can’t hardly wait to see the pictures.

      • Doll supporter says:

I find that hard to believe. I have been a patron of this club on numerous occasions and have never seen any nudity. Why was no one charged with indecency if this were true?

        Nice try Pig.

      • Broken Arrow says:

Wait, you’re saying there was a nude dancer? (which there wasn’t) and then you’re mad that if that picture existed it wasn’t posted? I don’t think I understand your logic, but then again, I don’t think you understand your own logic.

        • Baby doll customer says:

The dancer that came off the stage when the police showed up had her top off, they cuffed her without letting her put it back on for quite some time. Your right there was no real nudity, just too much for this gentle town. This was not a fun night, where do I get a refund?

          • Doll Supporter says:

Every time that I have been in there the girls always wore pasties or something covering their breast, so they were not really naked. And yes I have seen more skin at the beach than here.

Maybe if they get the new license they really can start dancing topless or nude.

  17. Col. Angus says:

It’s perfectly legitimate to post these pictures, so sorry Doll Employee, I doubt you will have much luck in getting them taken down. This is news of a crime, and the operators of this website have every right to report it. There have been pictures and name of people in drug busts on this site too.

This site is great for reporting pictures and names of those who commit crimes and are arrested in the city/county. If the fear of the ticket or jail doesn’t make you change your ways, then maybe fear of embarrassment will.

I think it’s great! Especially since the Sentinel went all stupid and stopped reporting the names in the police reports.

    • wtf says:

No, I think it’s fine, too – free press and all that. I’ve just heard that evidence isn’t supposed to be made public before trial or something of the sort – it’s pretty obvious a cop took these pics, maybe they aren’t “evidence” at all, though…maybe he was just trying out his new cameraphone. Or maybe I’m just mistaken about the whole evidence/trial thing. I don’t really care or I’d google it…and I’m certainly not a doll employee, lol.

    • Angry Dancer says:

There is a problem posting (at least some) of these photos when at least one of the girls specifically requested that their image NOT be used or distributed in any manner. Considering that the girl I’m speaking of has done modeling in the past, she knows her image rights and prevented every image of herself (except for the police-released mugshot) from being posted on several other websites. I expect photos of her will be removed from this website soon as well.

  18. trey says:

    That’s my mom!!!

  19. Wtf says:

Surely these are crime-scene pics or something right? Like evidence that shouldn’t be public before a trial or something? I don’t know how all that works, really – just wondering how all these pics are here, but not on ktre or dailysentinel.

  20. Guy says:

Thats pretty messed up putting those photos on here alot of these girls are single mothers trying to survive the best they can & If Anyone is to blame it’s poor club management… This upsets me….

  21. Not Dancing says:

Reading this made my whole day!!! While I was looking at the pics, I couldn’t stop laughing!!!!!!

  22. Doll employee says:

I work there as a dancer and was taken to jail last night. Every dancer was completely unaware of all of this. They have no right to post these pictures without permission. I will do any and everything in my power to get them for this. This is very upsetting. We truly are just trying to make a honest living.

    • a REAL honest woman says:

You have alot of nerve ! You want to whine now?? You have made yourself available to the pulic from the beginning when you chose to do this in the first place ! It is YOUR responsibilty to be more aware of ANY establishment, and it’s credentials, and reputation that employs you !! You wanted to give people from the public permission to come and see you in action, and permission pay you for doing all this before, and you wasn’t so bothered by it then, so why do these pictures bother you NOW ??

      • Anonymous says:

Don’t be so angry, and learn to spell.

      • Gia says:

When I started at this establishment 3 years ago the management informed us this was a bikini bar and we did not have to expose ourselves. When management changed, they fined every female $50 every night they tried to keep their tops on. We were allowed to use fake names to protect ourselves from stalkers and obsessed customers. I’m sure you will all feel justified now that these females are having to physically defened themselves from these people who can now and are finding them at their homes. There was never any product to sell, just a fantasy. How much money can you make from selling nothing? Don’t preach about what you don’t know, and don’t be jealous these women had the balls to please men the way you never could. I’m sure your husband was one of our best customers.

      • Sick of seeing this establishment!! Glad it's gone!!! says:

I agree with “a REAL honest woman”!

There are PLENTY of other places to work where you don’t have to be watched by men and lusted after because you are dancing around taking off your clothes. This is NOT a respectable job to have. It sickens me to see these women like this!! I am so glad that this place shut down.

        • Been there says:

REALLY? Sick of seeing….Did you ever actually go in or just drive and pass judgement? Other than the parking lot needs repair and the neon sign at night, what is bad about it? Surely noone can judge what goes ‘on’ there by mere heresay. Back in 2000, I and (22) friends went here and again in the past two years twice while in Nacogdoches for business (corporate) meetings. There is no other establishment located within your county or surrounding ones, for that matter; which are BYOB, and frankly we didn’t want to ‘hang’ out with girls at the local college club who quite honestly are more in a state of ‘nudity’ than we witnessed here. My brother and co-workers were here during the shuttle explosion years ago. No they were not ‘uneducated, low-lifes’. They were here from Washington, Oregon, And from NASA. There was no other place like this here then nor now. Quite alot of revenue was spent in that 8 months, due to us using Nacogdoches’ hotels, restaurants, etc. I’ll admit God created me a man, and I like to look and talk to a nice girl. I do not desire to molest, defame, or stalk any woman. These women are doing an honest job and are not deserving of the sudden attention they have received. The girls all had ‘stage’ names not to hide from the public or because they were ashamed of what they do. The purpose of this was so they could be outside the building, in a secure way, as this club as most has several ‘bouncers’ to watch not only the girls to make sure nothing in errs happens, but to also THROW out men who can not follow the rules. It is a shame that local, county, federal, national government can not leave well enough alone. This club may be just a start for your county. When it becomes another small business owner or perhaps you that others don’t see eye to eye in all matters, what then?

  23. nacliving says:

Why the need to post photos of all of them? That doesn’t seem right. But good to know what it finally looks like in there….

  24. Doll Supporter says:

This is ridiculous… Why let them operate for so long if the county is just going to up and change their mind? The employees of this establishment are victims of a system “suffering” from boredom/lack of press.

    • Guys and Dolls says:

You might be right. I’m betting these women didn’t even know they were doing anything illegal, unless some of the stuff I’ve heard about happens in the back rooms there actually does happen.

    • whatstheREALstory says:

This is not over. This club is/was not nude. If THAT is displaying nudity, all of Padre Island should be arrested. oh ok, wrong county!!! How about out at the lake. They didnt need a sexually-oriented business since 1996, when it operated as a nude club. Each year since when licenses, taxes, a business license was renewed to operate, this supposed license was not required. Why?? One, it was not required. Two, it was not an election year? Hard to have an opinion if you have not been there. And yes I have.

  25. Doll lover says:

What a joke. Old Kerss must need his name in the news. These girls are just trying to make an honest living.

    • The Dude says:

Either that or maybe they couldn’t make their payment for protection this month. That place has been there for years and all of a sudden Kerss decides to shut it down. Something does not pass the smell test here. Follow the money trail.

I would encourage the owner of this blog to try and do a little more digging and get us the real story instead of just the press release of what the Sheriffs office wants the public to believe.

      • wtf says:

        …or somebody’s boyfriend had a little fling with a dancer, perhaps…

      • Anonymous says:

For instance, when the club “Showgirls” was there in 1996 and WAS nude, it had the license. When it was no longer nude, the license was no longer required. Each year, law and county officials have come by to make sure that building, tax, and license to operate as a business were always re-newed. Which they were. Why now are they saying there has been no license on record since 1996??? Does it take 15 years to get something like this? Re-election year has put honest girls (and men employees) out of work, their children’s food on the table, and college funds (i know, GASP) on hold. It is not these girls fault that the men of Nacogodoches, Angelina, and those of surrounding counties wish to patron this establishment. Does this warrent all the bus loads of people heading to Louisiana?? Those who have never been in this club, are going on hearsay from your local media and law officials, and the fact that the general public makes its opinions from that fact alone is scary indeed. The sheriff Dept. is very wrong in this matter.

      • Obvious guy says:

You’re not going to find any digging here. Just cut and paste press releases. Digging, reporting, writing…that would require work.
