Willie H. Hodge

     Funeral service for Mr. Willie H. Hodge, 88, of Nacogdoches, Texas will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at 4:00 pm at Mildred Baptist Church in Mildred, Texas with Rev. Terry Hodge and Rev. Tony Neal officiating. Interment will follow at Eureka Cemetery in Eureka, Texas. Mr. Hodge was born on September 22, 1922, in Navarro County, Texas to the late Henry Harrison Hodge and Ruby Lee Greer Hodge. He passed away peacefully on June 21, 2011, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Willie was raised in Eureka and graduated from High School in Mildred, Texas. He served with the United States Coast Guard for 4 years during WWII and went on to work for the Texas Employment Commission for 38 years in Corsicana, Texas. Willie and his wife, Alibeth moved to Nacogdoches in 2008 to be closer to their family. Willie enjoyed many hobbies but flower gardening was his passion. He enjoyed traveling with Alibeth, raising cattle and was a self-taught cook in his latter years. He was a member of First Christian Church in Nacogdoches. He and Alibeth were former active members of Mildred Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Alice Elizabeth Whitten Hodge of Nacogdoches; his son, Rev. Terry Hodge and wife, Pat of Nacogdoches; granddaughter, Amy Bowman of Bedford; grandson, Adam Bowman of Waco; granddaughter, Alyson Scott and husband, Adam of Nacogdoches; two great-grandchildren, Luke Harrison Scott and Charli Belle Scott both of Nacogdoches. In addition to his parents, Henry and Ruby Hodge, he was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Harry Hodge. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, from 5-7 pm at First Christian Church, Nacogdoches. The family will receive friends and family at Mildred Baptist after the interment. The family requests memorials be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund or to the Mildred Baptist Church.
