A graveside commital service for Mr. James Michael Barbe, 49, of Nacogdoches, Texas will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at 4:00 pm at Mt. Herman Church of Christ Cemetery with Pastor Kyle Childress officiating.
Mr. Barbe was born on January 31, 1962, in Center, Texas to James Gibson Barbe and Bobbie Ann Bradshaw. He passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2011, in Nacogdoches, Texas.
James graduated from Center High School in 1980. After graduation he moved to Nacogdoches to attend college and was a long time resident of Nacogdoches. He graduated from Cosmetology school and had a 22 year career in his chosen field. He was employed with Head West Salon in Nacogdoches and had a very loyal clientele. James loved spening time with family and friends. He also enjoyed many activities in his life including shopping, traveling, decorating and landscaping. He kept an immaculate home and showcase yard. James also liked cars, the newer the better. He enjoyed searching for antiques as well.
James was a kind, loving person who was known for his giving generosity. He loved his family tremendously, including doting on his numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He also loved animals, he did not go long without a loving dog at his side, with “Levi” his chihuahua, being his latest canine companion. To his loving family and to his work clientele those who knew James will miss his tremendous spirit and large heart.
He is survived by his mother, Bobbie Ann Barbe, of Baytown, Texas; brother, Richard W. Barbe and wife, Connie of Chireno; a sister, Leslie Metcalf and husband, Mark of Baytown; his best friend, Anthony Allen of Nacogdoches, Texas; nieces and nephews, Laura Hendrix and husband, D.J. of Anahuac, Texas, Leah Moody and husband, Shane of Baytown and Sheila Barbe of Ashville, North Carolina; great-nieces and nephews, Daniella Brunson of Ashville, North Carolina, Sierra, Savannah and Lane Moody all of Baytown, and Lindsey and Dalton Hendrix of Anahuac, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, James Gibson Barbe.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Nacogdoches Animal Shelter, 3211 South West Stallings Dr., Nacogdoches, Texas 75964.
