     Lucille “Lucy” Marie Koonce Lazarine, 81, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2011 at her home in Nacogdoches, Texas.

     Lucy was born on January 21, 1930 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Wylie “W.D” and Gladys C. Koonce.

     She was raised in Woden, TX and graduated from Woden High School. She married Thomas L. Lazarine on October 8, 1948 and together they enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing 42. She was an avid speed reader and loved mystery novels.

     She began her long career of service as a LVN in 1948 and continued until her retirement due to health issues, in 2007. In her later years she loved to watch her grandsons play sports and she never missed any activities that they were involved in. Her family was very important to her and she was a lifelong servant to everyone.

     She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her three brothers, Jessie Glenn Koonce, James Koonce and Wayne Koonce.

     She is survived by her son Jim T. Lazarine and his wife Karen of Nacogdoches, TX, grandsons, Michael Lazarine and his wife Heather of Nacogdoches, TX, Adam Lazarine and his wife Brandy of Groesbeck, TX, Jeff Lazarine and his wife Stephanie of Waco, TX, 3 great-grandchildren, Kasidy Lazarine of Nacogdoches, TX, Christian Lazarine of Waco, TX and Keslie Lazarine of Groesbeck, TX. Lucy is also survived by her brother, Royce Koonce and his wife Billie of Etoile, TX, her sisters, Claudette Bowers and her husband E.C. of Sand Springs, OK, Janette Burgin and her husband David of Nacogdoches, TX, a sister-in-law, Anna Huddelston and her husband Bill of Mesquite, TX and numerous nephews and nieces.

     A funeral service will take place on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches, Texas with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Nacogdoches.

     Friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, February 27, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches.
