Obituary: Edward Lee Adams

Edward Lee “Ed” Adams was born July 2, 1934, in El Campo, Texas. He left to be with our Heavenly Father on December 3, 2011.

Mr. Adams drove a truck for Central Freight Lines in Houston, Texas, and was also a manager at Whataburger in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mr. Adams was also a district manager for Diamond Shamrock.

Then in 1986, he moved to a little town, Luling, Texas, where he opened his own business, known as Mr. Ed’s. It was a game room for children. He loved children so much. For seven years he held his game room open to give the kids a place to hangout and have fun instead of being on the streets. He would always go out of his way to help a young person.

He retired in 1992 and moved to Douglass, Texas, to be with his family. Once he settled his roots in Douglass, he picked up working part-time for Wal-Mart as a vendor for eight years. Mr. Adams wasn’t one to sit and do nothing. He was very much a people person—there wasn’t a stranger he ever met. He moved his letter of fellowship to the First Baptist Church of Douglass.

Mr. Adams is survived by his beloved wife of over 59 years, Pansy F. Adams; four children, Denise E. Foster and Thomas Foster of Douglass, Cathy D. Adams of Douglass, Janet L. Brown and Gerry Brown of Douglass, and John A. Adams and Andrea Adams of Douglass; six grandchildren, Kerry Hilliard, Heather Bates, Stephen Foster, April Garza, John Adams II, and Mackenzie Brown; ten great-grandchildren; a brother, Barney Silas Adams Jr. of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and his beloved pet, Angel.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel I. Fisher Adams, and his father, Barney Silas Adams Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, Nacogdoches, with Bro. Pete McGuire officiating. Interment will follow at Douglass Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Hilliard, Stephen Foster, John Adams II, Benjamin Brown, Thomas Foster, and Sean Wilcox.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
