Obituary: Katie (LaFleur) Robertson 1924 – 2011

     Frances Katherine LaFleur Robertson, our beautiful, remarkable Katie, entered Heaven on November 29, 2011 and is in the presence of Jesus and in the arms of her beloved husband Charlie Robertson. Katie was born on June 5, 1924 in Tate Cove, Louisiana to Fannie Kate Mathewes LaFleur and Ernest Gilbert LaFleur. She graduated from high school in Ville Platte, Louisiana at age 15 and from Southwestern Louisiana Institute in Lafayette at age 19 in 1944.

     On May 3, 1947 she married the love of her life, Charles Wright Robertson in Baton Rouge. They had a wonderful marriage of 48 years and had three children. Katie was a teacher, a publicity spokesman for the school district and a real estate broker and realtor. While in Nacogdoches, she earned her Masters degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.

     She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her brother, Ernest G. LaFleur, Jr. (Jean) of Alexandria, LA; and by her children: Linda Brewer (Darrell) of Houston, Charles W. Robertson, Jr. (Paula) of Sioux Falls, SD and Wes Robertson (Beverly) of Houston; by her grandchildren: Katherine Elkins (Dave), Ben Brewer (Lindsey), Travis Robertson, Clay Robertson, Cody Robertson and Troy Robertson; and by her great grandchildren: Conner and Nathan Elkins, Lila Robertson and Charlie Brewer.

     Visitation in Nacogdoches will be held Friday, December 2, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors (5400 North Street) from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM, followed by graveside services at 1:00 PM in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

     In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
