     BURGLARY OF A HABITATION; 5300 BLOCK OF NORTHWAY. AN UNLOCKED RESIDENCE WAS ENTERED AND AN XBOX GAME CONSOLE AND GAMES WERE TAKEN.

     VIOLATION OF A PROTECTIVE ORDER; 5200 BLOCK OF NORTHWAY. A SUSPECT WAS FOUND ON THE PREMESIS WHERE HE HAD BEEN BARRED BY A PROTECTIVE ORDER. THE SUSPECT WAS ARRESTED.

     POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA; 1000 BLOCK OF SOUTH STREET. OFFICER CONTACTED A SUSPECT ON A TRAFFIC STOP. SUSPECTED MARIJUANA WAS LOCATED IN THE VEHICLE AND THE SUSPECT WAS ARRESTED.

     HIT AND RUN; 1100 BLOCK OF HACKBERRY. AN UNKNOWN 18 WHEELER STRUCK A UTILITY POLE CAUSING DAMAGE AND LEFT THE SCENE.

     POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE; 1000 BLOCK OF NORTH SANDERS STREET. OFFICERS WERE CONDUCTING A TRAFFIC STOP. THE DRIVER WAS FOUND TO BE IN POSSESSION OF AN UNLABELED PILL BOTTLE CONTAINING XANAX. THE SUSPECT WAS ARRESTED.

     CRIMINAL MISCHIEF; 2800 BLOCK OFPEARL STREET. COMPLAINANT REPORTED THAT THE REAR TIRES WERE CUT ON HIS PARKED VEHICLE.

     CRIMINAL TRESPASS; 300 BLOCK OFLENWOOD DRIVE. OFFICERS WERE DISPATCHED TO A VEHICLE BURGLARY IN PROGRESS. TWO MALE SUSPECTS WERE OBSERVED BY A WITNESS BURGLARIZING A VEHICLE. THE SUSPECTS WERE GONE ON ARRIVAL, BUT THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED DASH DAMAGE.

     EVADING ARREST; 1500 BLOCK OF FOX STREET. OFFICER ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT A SUSPECT FOR SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY. THE SUSPECT FLED ON FOOT AND WAS CAUGHT BY OFFICER. THE SUSPECT HAD AN OUTSTANDING PAROLE WARRANT.

     DWLI; 3100 BLOCK OF PRESS ROAD. OFFICERS CONTACTED A DRIVER WHO HAD A SUSPENDED LICENSE FOR AN ALCOHOL OFFENSE. THE SUSPECT WAS ARRESTED.

     CRIMINAL MISCHIEF; 2800 BLOCK OF PEARL STREET. A CABLE BOX ON THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING HAD BEEN PRIED OPEN.

Jason Bridges (Pct. 4): Several methamphetamine arrests made in the last week

     The Nacogdoches County Constable Office Precinct 4 has made a series of methamphetamine arrests during the last week and has seized components for a meth lab during a search of two different houses. Constable Bridges stated that 8 felony arrests have been made in the last week involving methamphetamine and the constable office was also able to seize chemicals along with other key materials used for making methamphetamine. The methamphetamine seizures occurred during the search of two different residences and two different traffic stops.

     Constable Bridges advised that during the first of the week, the Constable Office searched a residence located on lakeside drive in Etoile near morgans cove. The Constable Office had received information of a methamphetamine lab at this residence. Deputy Constables searched the residence which resulted in the seizure of 4 grams of methamphetamine along with chemicals that are commonly used in meth labs. Bridges also stated that we seen evidence of where methamphetamine had been cooked very recently. A total of four arrests were made at the scene.

     Jacob Leonard W/M of Etoile, Barbara Torbert W/F of Etoile, Lonnie Hollingsworth of Lufkin, Connie White W/F of Lufkin was charged with possession of Controlled Substance 2nd felony.

     On 12-13-2010 the constable office gained information of more drug activity occurring at a residence on Cr. 852. The Constable office along with precinct 1and the sheriff office served an outstanding warrant at the residence and then conducted a search after receiving consent from the owner. Constable Bridges stated that more components to a meth lab were found at this location as well. Although no chemicals were found at this residence, several glass beakers, pills and other items used for manufacturing methamphetamine along with one gram of methamphetamine and several grams of marijuana. Brian Prosise and Alisha Taylor both of Nacogdoches were arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance state jail felony.

     The constable Office arrested two more subjects on traffic stops. The first arrest came in Chireno, where Constable Bridges stopped a vehicle for speeding. James Chatman was arrested for a driving while license invalid. A search of the vehicle revealed several grams of methamphetamine that was concealed inside of the pickup truck. Another traffic stop by Deputy Allen occurred on Spradley Street. The driver of the vehicle was a wanted fugitive and was in possession of methamphetamine. Jason Bradley Johnson of Nacogdoches was arrested and transported to the Nacogdoches County jail.

East Texas Citizens to Gather Throughout the State to Lean More about Keystone XL Pipeline’s Risks

WHAT: Community meeting to educate Texans on Keystone XL and eminent domain proceedings.

WHO: Sierra Club Members, Community Members, Press

WHEN: Friday, December 17th, 8:30 – 10:00am

WHERE: Java Jack’s Coffee House. 1122 North Street, 75961

     NACOGDOCHES- TransCanada, a foreign oil company, is using eminent domain against Texas landowners to seize private land for a tar sands oil pipeline planned from Canada through Texas to the gulf coast.

     Tar sands oil is the dirtiest fossil fuel in the world, and TransCanada’s proposed Keystone XL pipeline would pump this toxic fuel through fifteen Texas counties, including Lamar, Delta, Hopkins, Franklin, Wood, Smith, Rusk, Cherokee, Nacogdoches, Angelina, Polk, Hardin, Jefferson, Liberty, and Harris counties. The Keystone XL pipeline will traverse sixteen large rivers that feed 21 lakes and municipal reservoirs. Tar sands oil has 11 times more sulfur and nickel, six times more nitrogen, and five times more lead than conventional oil. The Keystone XL pipeline would pump thousands of barrels a day of highly caustic tar sands at high pressure and heat through Texas farms, rivers and aquifers.

     The Sierra Club is hosting public meetings this week to educate Texas citizens about this important issue, and help landowners protect themselves from threats of eminent domain. The meeting in Nacogdoches is one of several throughout the state taking place this week.

FreedomWorks Hosts Monetary Policy Panel

     FreedomWorks co-hosted a discussion panel on December 7 with the Atlas Foundation on Capitol Hill entitled “Sound Money and America’s Global Economic Leadership”. You can watch video from the panel online at CSPAN. The panel featured Dr. Judy Shelton of Atlas Foundation, Atlas Foundation President Alex Chafuen, Professor Lawrence White of George Mason University, Congressman Mike Pence (R-IN) and Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI).

     Each speaker lauded Dr. Shelton’s recently released A Guide To Sound Money, which Congressman Ryan even called “the best 23 pages on money I’ve read in a long, long time.” Over 100,000 copies of The Guide have already been printed and will be distributed in bulk by FreedomWorks to our activists around the country.      The panel roundly criticized the precedents set in the Wall Street bailout, the implicit “too big to fail” clause in Dodd-Frank and the monetization of our debt through

     Tea Party Forces Upton To Reverse Liberal Positions Earlier this week, FreedomWorks presented our Down With Upton! petition with over 35,000 signatures to every member of the GOP steering committee, urging them to oppose Fred Upton as chairman of the House Energy and Commerce committee. This pressure from grassroots activists forced Upton to reverse many of his big government positions. Upton has now said he opposes Obama’s offshore drilling moratorium, his own previously proposed ban on incandescent lightbulbs and Obama’s national health care law:

     “We have heard the grassroots loud and clear, and will have a hearing early next Congress,” said Mr. Upton. “The last thing we wanted to do was infringe upon personal liberties, and this has been a good lesson that Congress does not always know best.”

     “I look forward to standing shoulder to shoulder with Speaker Boehner, Leader Cantor, Whip McCarthy and the entire republican conference as we repeal Obamacare, fight rampant job killing regulations, cut spending and help put folks back to work,” Upton said in a statement.

     Upton’s sudden transformation as a fiscal conservative has been rewarded, as it now seems he will take the chairmanship of the House Energy and Commerce committee. While it is encouraging to see Upton change his positions, we plan to continue following Upton’s future voting record. If he does not stay true to his newly-found conservative principles, we will be making him a primary target in 2012.

Obituary: Kenneth E. Rixie

     Mr. Kenneth E. Rixie, 77, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away Friday, Dec. 10, 2010.

     Mr. Rixie was born Aug. 7, 1933, in Bradley, Illinois, to Charles Ray Rixie and Blanche Deschamps Rixie.

     Survivors: children, Georgia Broz and husband Gary of Liberty, Texas, Rod Rixie of Houston, Texas, Chou Crook and husband Cary of Dallas, Texas, Cindi Weaver and husband Howard of Nacogdoches, Texas, Chella Purcell and husband Tim of Houston, Texas, Renee Rixie and James Teas of Houston, Texas, and Mamie Chambless and husband Harrell of Houston, Texas; sisters, Vivian Dayoff and Ardis Baker; brother, Bud Rouse; and ten grandchildren.

     Memorial services are set for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, at New Hope Congregational Methodist Church, 5301 East Main St., Nacogdoches, Texas, with Pastor Bryan Tyre officiating.

     P10~21873 ~ 2700 LOGAN CIR ~ THEFT ~ COMPLAINANT ADVISED THAT HIS EX-WIFE WAS STEALING HIS PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION.

     P10~21880~ 1200 N MOUND ST ~ POCS ~ FEMALE SUBJECT WAS IN THE HOSPITAL AND FOUND TO HAVE PCP IN HER SYSTEM. NURSE STAFF LOCATED WHAT THEY THOUGHT WAS PCP AND TURNED IT OVER TO SECURITY.

     P10~ 21870~ 2400 NORTH ST ~ FORGERY ~ UNK SUSPECT OBTAINED A PERSONAL CHECK BELONGING TO THE COMPLAINANT THEN FORGED THE COMPLAINANTS SIGNITURE AND PASSED THE CHECK.

     P10~ 21875~ 1400 MARTINSVILLE ~ ASSAULT ~ ON 12-12-10, AN OFFICER RESPONDED TO A LOCAL APARTMENT COMPLEX IN REFERENCE TO AN ASSAULT THAT OCCURRED THE PREVIOUS DAY BETWEEN A COUPLE. NO INJURIES WERE OBSERVED OR REPORTED.

     P10~21888~ 1600 POWERS ST ~ POM ~ OFFICER MADE A CONTACT WITH A PEDESTRIAN AND FOUND HIM TO HAVE AN OUTSTANDING WARRANT. A SEARCH INCIDENT TO ARREST REVEALED A SMALL AMOUNT OF MARIJUANA CONCEALING ON THE SUBJECT’S PERSON. OFFICER RECOVERED 2.2 GRAMS OF MARIJUANA. OFFICER ARRESTED CLEO FREDRICK THOMPSON,JR.

     P10~21887~ 600 LUCAS ST ~ PODD / POM / DWLI ~ OFFICER CONDUCTED A TRAFFIC STOP AND FOUND THE DRIVER TO HAVE A SUSPENDED LICENSE AND WAS ALSO IN POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA AND DANGEROUS DRUGS. OFFICER LOCATED 7.1 GRAMS OF SUSPECTED MARIJUANA AND FIVE AMITRIPTYSLINE IN THE VEHICLE. DAVID COLLINS, JR WAS ARRESTED BY POLICE.

THE DRIVER WAS FOUND TO HAVE A SUSPENDED LICENSE WITH NO INSURANCE. THE DRIVER WAS ARRESTED BY POLICE. DURING THE INVENTORY OF THE VEHICLE, OFFICER RECOVERED A SMALL BAGGY OF SUSPECTED MARIJUANA. OFFICER RECOVERED 2 GRAMS OF SUSPECTED MARIJUANA. CORNELIUS LYDELL POLK WAS ARRESTED.

     P10~21897~ 100 N SANDERS ~ POM ~ OFFICER CONTACTED A VEHICLE FOR A TRAFFIC VIOLATION. PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE STOPPING AN UNKNOWN ITEM WAS THROWN FROM THE VEHICLE. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE PASSENGER HAD THROWN SUSPECTED MARIJUANA FROM THE VEHICLE. OFFICER RECOVERED 7.0 GRAMS OF SUSPECTED MARIJUANA. STEVEN LAJUAN WILLIAMS, JR. WAS ARRESTED BY POLICE.

Wright (Democratic): Final update for the 2010 year

Fellow Nacogdoches County Democrats,

     The Holiday Season is upon us! This will likely be the last email before the new year begins, so be sure to take note of the items below.

     1) For those of you in the Southwest Ward, run-off voting for the unexpired term is underway. Election day is Tuesday, December 14th and will take place at the Recreation Center from 7-7. David Norton and Mary Ann Derby are the candidates. While we do not endorse candidates in non-partisan elections, I encourage you to educate yourself on the candidates and ask fellow Democrats about their recommendations.

     2) Our first meeting of 2011 will take place on Thursday, January 13th at 5:30 at the County Courthouse Annex. This will be an Executive Committee meeting with a few items of official business, but all are invited to attend as we plan our work for a very important year, one that will set the tone for the 2012 elections. We need you there so mark that calendar!

     3) As the end of the lame-duck session of Congress nears, there is a plethora of activity happening in the final few weeks of this Congressional session. Votes on President Obama’s tax cut compromise (debated heavily amongst Congressional Democrats), the lifting of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”, passage of the DREAM Act, and a bill (strongly opposed by the Republicans) that would provide much-needed health care benefits for 9-11 first responders are all on the table. C-Span (www.cspan.org), Politico’s website (http://www.politico.com/), and CNN’s political ticker (http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/) are great sources to keep you up-to-date. Our own state legislature will open the new session on January 11, 2011 and due to numerous GOP gains in the state House, as well as a projected $24 billion budget shortfall, it will be a tough five months. We’ll keep you informed of significant happenings once that legislative body convenes.

     4) We are officially closing our 2010 office this Wednesday, so if you are missing any items, please let us know as most of them have been packed and stored!

December 13 Crime Log: Party like a rock star

     CRIMINAL MISCHIEF; 3900 BLOCK OF SOUTH STREET. A GUEST IN A HOTEL ROOM REPORTEDLY BROKE A WINDOW AND DAMAGED A TELEVISION IN A ROOM.

     SEXUAL ASSAULT; 312 WEST MAIN. COMPLAINANT CAME TO THE POLICE STATION AND REPORTED THAT AFTER A PARTY, A KNOWN SUSPECT SEXUALLY ASSAULTED HER. INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY.

     DWI; 1100 BLOCK OF PEARL STREET. SUSPECT WAS CONTACTED AS A DRIVER INVOLVED IN A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT. HE WAS SUSPECTED OF BEING INTOXICATED AND WAS ARRESTED.

     CRIMINAL MISCHIEF; 4200 BLOCK OF NE STALLINGS DRIVE. A MOTORCYCLE WAS INTENTIONALLY PUSHED OVER THAT WAS PARKED. THE MOTORCYCLE SUSTAINED DAMAGE.

     POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA; 1000 BLOCK OF EAST MAIN STREET. OFFICERS MADE CONTACT WITH A SUSPECT ON A TRAFFIC STOP. HE WAS FOUND TO BE IN POSSESSION OF SUSPECTED MARIJUANA AND WAS ARRESTED.

     POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA; 2700 BLOCK OF CENTER HIGHWAY. OFFICERS RESPONDED TO A HIT AND RUN. OFFICERS LOCATED THE SUSPECT VEHICLE AND RECOVERED SUSPECTED MARIJUANA OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER WAS ARRESTED.

     THEFT; 200 BLOCK OF EAST COLLEGE. A CABLE WAS CUT ON A SECURED BICYCLE AND THE BIKE STOLEN.

     AGGRAVARED ASSAULT; 2700 BLOCK OF WILLIAMS STREET. DURING A DISTURBANCE, ISAMEL SALAZAR STRUCK THE VICTIM SEVERAL TIMES IN THE FACE. THE VICTIM WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WITH SERIOUS FACIAL INJURIES AND THE SUSPECT WAS ARRESTED.

Obituary: Rayford Albert Butler

     A graveside service for Rayford Albert Butler of Nacogdoches, formerly of Douglass, will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at Alazan Cemetery.

     Born January 11, 1920, he was the son of Walter H. Butler and Dora Warren Butler. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of the Cushing Masonic Lodge. He is preceded in death by: his wife, Lera Nell Johnson, his parents, two sisters, and three brothers.

     He is survived by his daughters: Rita Butler and Shelby Looney and husband Dennis and son; Gary L. Butler and wife Jeannie; grandchildren: Kyle Doss, Suzanne Butler, Justin Butler and wife Shelly, Scott Coe and his wife RoseAnne; his great-grandchildren: Lilly and Savannah; and his faithful canine companion Lucky Lady.
