Obituary: Helen Carter

     Helen Carter, 101, of Nacogdoches passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2011 in Nacogdoches.

     She was born on August 20, 1910 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Harmon and Sallie Fore Murrell.

     A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 10:00 am at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches. Interment will follow at Gravel Ridge Cemetery.

     Friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors in Nacogdoches.

     Betty N. Randall, 75, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2011 in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born on September 4, 1935.

NPD WARRANT OFFICER DIES SUDDENLY

     It is with great sadness that the Nacogdoches Police Department reports the sudden death of NPD Warrant Officer Kenneth Jackson.

     Officer Jackson became ill at his residence around midnight this morning and EMS was called. He was pronounced dead at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital at 12:59 a.m., shortly after arrival.

     Officer Jackson was a retired State Game Warden with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Kenneth Jackson was 58 years old.

     Funeral services are pending at this time.

Obituary: Alice Ann Muckleroy

     Alice Ann Muckleroy was born in Apple Springs, Texas, May 6, 1934, to Howard and Linnie Hutson, and passed away June 30, 2011, at Nacogdoches Medical Center. She graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1951 and then attended Texas Women’s University and University of Texas earning a Bachelors of Science in Home Economics with honors from North Texas State University. She married the love of her life, Morris B. Muckleroy, in 1953 and shared a wonderful marriage for over 58 years.

Alice Ann Muckleroy

     Alice Ann was very involved in her community and church, but most of all cherished her family. She was always thoughtful of others and devoted many years of service to volunteer organizations. She worked with the Pink Ladies at Memorial Hospital and served as a board member for Nacogdoches Treatment Center. She was an active member of Nacogdoches Literati Study Club and Rotary Anns Service Organization. She was an active member in the First Christian Church as a youth leader, camp board member, Cub Scout den mother, VBS Teacher, Deaconess, and choir member. Alice Ann was an encourager to many and bestowed graciousness wherever she went.

     She enjoyed traveling, shopping, tennis, stained glass, and music. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving mother, wife, friend, and grandmother.

     She is survived by her husband, Morris Muckleroy, of Nacogdoches; son, Rick Muckleroy, of Austin; daughter, Angie Muckleroy Crisp and son-in-law, Kim Crisp, also of Nacogdoches. Her pride and joy were her four loving grandchildren, Lacey Muckleroy of Dallas, Trey Muckleroy of Austin, Claire Crisp of New York City, Blake Crisp, who preceeded her in death, and great grandson, Blake Andrew Crisp of The Woodlands; and one brother, Bill Hutson of College Station; She is proceeded in death by her parents.

     Pallbearers will be Bill Earley, Willard Birdwell, Charles Martin, Trey Muckleroy, Johnny Rudisill and Stephen Steed.

     Hononary pallbearers will be Campbell Cox, Sr., Ray Mize and Charles Bright.

     Funeral service will be on Sunday, July 3, 2011, at 2:00 pm at First Christian Church with Rev. Terry Hodge and Rev. Rex Humphreys officating.

     Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.

     Visitation will be on Saturday, July 2, 2011, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at the church.

     In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you consider a donation to First Christian Church, 702 North Mound, Nacogdoches, Texas 75961.

Obituary: Willard “Pat” Patterson

     Funeral service for Mr. Willard “Pat” Patterson, 75, of Nacogdoches will be on Sunday, July 3, 2011, at 2:00 pm at Laird Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Arnold officiating. Burial will be at Simpson Campground Cemetery. Mr. Patterson was born on March 31, 1936, in Snyder, Texas. He died on July 1, 2011, in Tyler. Visitation will be on Saturday, July 2, 2011, from 5-8 pm at Laird Funeral Home.
