Margaretha was born on October 5, 1942 and passed away peacefully on September 18, 2011 in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Friday September 16, 2011 – Monday September 19, 2011
On 9-18-2011 an Officer was dispatched to Lot 47 in reference to Burglary of a Motor Vehicle.Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised between 9-16-2011 and9-18-2011 numerous items were stolen from his secure vehicle while parked in lot 47. There are no suspects.
On 9-18-2011 an Officer was dispatched to Lumberjack Village in reference to an Intoxicated Person. Upon arrival the Officer located the subject in front of the HPE Building. The Officer discovered the subject was a minor and had been consuming alcohol. The subject was issued a citation for minor consuming alcohol. There is one suspect.

Jason Bridges Pct 4
The Nacogdoches County Constable Office Precinct 4 conducted a search warrant early Saturday morning that lead to the arrest of 3 people on Cr. Road 563 in Kingtown, Texas. Constable Bridges stated that the Constable Office has been conducting a year long investigation into methamphetamine distribution in precinct 4. During that time our office has been able to identify what we believe are several high value methamphetamine dealers that have been distributing methamphetamine at a large volume.
The Constable Office was able to obtain a search warrant on a residence after conducting surveillance and other types of law enforcement investigations for several months. At 6am Saturday morning the precinct 4 Constable Office, assisted by the PCT 1 constable office conducted the search warrant and three felony arrests were made at the residence.
Deputy Constables located 10 grams of crystal methamphetamine at the residence, along with several guns, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia. Constable Bridges stated that shutting down this operation should play a significant role in the amount of methamphetamine that was being sold in our precinct and then being distributed throughout Nacogdoches County.
This is the Constable Office third search warrant that has been conducted in the last few weeks. This is a result of our ongoing drug operation that we have spent the last year on investigating. We have been able to identify several key dealers of methamphetamine in Nacogdoches County during this operation and there is several more arrest to come in the near future.
Arrested at the scene were Lavina Whiteside 42 years of age and Billy Husband 44 years of age both from Kingtown, Texas. Both subjects were charged with possession of controlled substance a 2nd felony. Also found at the scene and arrested was Kevin Meek 33 years of age, Bridges stated that Meek was found near the residence and was sleeping in a tent. Meek had 8 warrants for his arrest.
Bridges stated that additional charges may be filed on Whiteside and Husband as well for child endangerment. During the search Deputy Constables found a loaded 38 pistol and drugs inside a cabinet drawer that was easily accessible to anyone in the house. Bridges stated that there were also three children inside of the residence that could have easily gained access to both the gun and narcoitcs. This charge will be presented to the grand jury for review.

On Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at a regular session of the Commissioners Court, Nacogdoches County Judge Joe English was appointed to serve on the Burke Center Board replacing retired member Dr. Nancy Speck. Judge English is a 1991 graduate of the Angelina nursing program, which included a semester of clinical rotation in psychiatric nursing at the Rusk State Hospital. In 2008, he was appointed to the Nacogdoches County Rural East Texas Health Network, a group of community leaders meeting to address mental health issues within Nacogdoches County.
Judge English, along with the 12 County Judges in DETCOG, Hospital Administrators, and Burke Center administration formed a regional coalition to establish a Mental Health Crisis Center to address the immediate needs of patients in crises. The center, located in Lufkin, treated 168 residents of Nacogdoches County this last year.
Most recently Judge English lead a team of local leaders which included the Mayor, Hospital Administrators, and members from the Burke Center to Austin to rally the State legislation to not cut State funding for the mentally ill in Nacogdoches County.
Judge English is quoted as saying he believes “Mental health disorders are a serious public health concern to our community and is widely misunderstood by society. Even though doctors and researchers have made huge strides in their understanding and treatment of mental health disorders, we all still have much more to do”.
Baritone Scott LaGraff, Stephen F. Austin State University associate professor of voice, and pianist Andrew Hudson of Baylor University, will present “Liederabend: An Evening of German Song” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, in Cole Concert Hall.
Stephen F. Austin State University voice professor Scott LaGraff and pianist Andrew Hudson will perform a well-known works from the 19th century German song repertoire at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.
The recital will feature some of the “great pieces from the German song (or ‘Lieder’) repertoire,” explained LaGraff.
Included on the program is Franz Schubert’s “Erlkönig (The Erl-King),” a “tour-de-force for both performers because it is one of the most challenging songs for the pianist and requires the singer to portray four different characters,” explained LaGraff.
“Hugo Wolf’s ‘Der Feuerreiter (The Fire-Rider),’ is another powerful and challenging ballad we’ll be performing,” LaGraff continued. “It tells the story of a firefighter whose obsession leads to his own demise.”
The program also includes Robert Schumann’s “Dichterliebe (A Poet’s Love).”
“Lush and beautiful, the music takes us on a journey from new love to love lost, through grief to acceptance,” LaGraff said.
LaGraff, who joined the SFA faculty in 2004, is a veteran of the operatic, concert and recital stage. He has appeared with Tri-Cities Opera in Binghamtom, N.Y.; Opera East Texas; and the Syracuse, Tulsa, Pensacola, Westchester Hudson and Ithaca opera companies.
His concert engagements include solo appearances with the Baton Rouge Symphony, Syracuse Symphony, Kingwod Chorale, Canterbury Choral Society, Ocean City Pops, Binghamton Pops, Syracuse Oratorio Society, and at Carnegie Hall with MidAmerica Productions.
Hudson, who holds degrees in piano performance from the North Carolina School of the Arts, the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the University of Texas at Austin, has performed with singers from around the world, including alumni of the Bayreuth, Leipzig, Metropolitan, New York City and Nice Operas, and the National Opera of Prague.
LaGraff and Hudson have been collaborating since 2000, presenting recitals throughout the Midwest and South. In 2009 they released a recording of American song, “Songs by Stephen Lias, Michael Patterson and Lee Hoiby,” on the Centaur Records label.
The recital is a joint presentation of the SFA College of Fine Arts and School of Music and is a part of the 2011-2012 Cole Performing Arts Series. Cole Concert Hall is located in the Wright Music Building, 2210 Alumni Drive.
