Texas CattleWomen to visit Nacogdoches this week
For four days this week, Nacogdoches will be the mecca for cattlewomen of Texas. The Texas CattleWomen will stake their claim in Nacogdoches from October 7-9 during their annual convention hosted by the East Texas PineyWoods CattleWomen Association.
Over 50 CattleWomen will be traveling into town from all over Texas and will be visiting various attractions throughout the city during their stay. The Hotel Fredonia will be the hub of the convention and the women will enjoy a social by the pool, self-guided tours of the city, a fun run, and dinner and dancing at Banita Creek Hall. The estimated economic impact of the convention is around $40,000.
Texas CattleWomen are affiliated with the American National CattleWomen and are an independent organization, not an auxiliary to any other organization. When you join the organization, you become a member of a lively group of women with similar interests to yours and proud partners with their families and friends in the great BEEF industry. They provide an organization through which women function collectively to protect their industry, work toward solutions of beef cattle problems, to inform consumers of the importance of the industry and of the contributions it makes to the economy of the nation. Because of the prevalence of misinformation about BEEF, CattleWomen strive to provide accurate facts and reliable information to consumers concerning the nutrition of BEEF.
Sherri Skeeters, convention and meeting specialist at the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau, is glad to see all of the planning of the event come together. “It’s been great to work with Debbie Shelton from the East Texas PineyWoods CattleWomen Association, and we have long been anticipating the Texas CattleWomen Association to come to the Oldest Town in Texas so be on the lookout for this group around Nacogdoches!”

The Nacogdoches Farmers’ Market, located at the “hitch lot” at the corner of West Main and Pearl Streets, is open from 8 a.m. until noon or later every Saturday morning. If the market parking lot is full, additional parking is available in the Nacogdoches County Courthouse Annex parking lot.
Please note that the Farmer’s Market is a “Smoke Free” facility for the health of our customers and vendors.

October 6: SFA Crime Log
Wednesday October 5, 2011 – Thursday October 6, 2011
On 10-5-2011 an Officer was dispatched to Griffith Hall in reference to Theft. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised on 10-5-2011 his headphones were stolen from his unattended backpack at the Intramural Field. There are no suspects.
On 10-5-2011 an Officer observed a vehicle parked illegally in a handicap space on East College St. The Officer made contact with the owner, who advised she had been using her mother’s handicap placard to park in handicap spaces on SFA’s campus. There is one suspect.
On 10-5-2011 an Officer was dispatched to the Parking and Traffic Office in reference to Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised on 10-5-2011 items were stolen from his secure vehicle in Lot 46. There are no suspects.

The Kidnapping call that shows on the report was actually a missing 11 year old female. The girl was located in approximately 20 minutes at a friend’s house, safe and sound.
