Five pounds of marijuana seized in traffic stop

Jason Bridges, Pct. 4 Constable

The Nacogdoches County Constable Precinct 4 has seized 5 pounds of marijuana from a traffic stop Friday morning. Constable Bridges stated that Deputy Marble with the Constable Office conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota passenger vehicle after observing the driver was not secured by his safety belt.

After speaking with the driver who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, Deputy Marble observed that the driver appeared to be very nervous and gave inconsistent statements about his trip. Due to the subject’s behavior and demeanor, Deputy Marble suspected criminal activity was possibly occurring. A drug dog was called to the scene during the traffic stop and gave a positive alert to the trunk of the motor vehicle. After the K-9 alert to the motor vehicle, deputies obtained probable cause to conduct a search of the motor vehicle.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and five pounds of marijuana was found concealed inside a plastic bag lying in the trunk. Henry Kinerd 57 years of age from Peoria, ILLNOIS was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of marijuana, State Jail felony.
