     Early this morning more than 80 federal, state and local law enforcement officers gathered in Nacogdoches to begin serving federal and state arrest warrants on several key members of an illegal narcotics distribution network. The arrests followed an in-depth two-year long investigation that was spearheaded by the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office and DEA. The investigation successfully focused on targeting those atop the hierarchy of a major local narcotics distribution operation, as well as connecting their main supply channels in other cities and states. The investigation required hard work and extreme patience to ensure that those involved at the highest levels of the operation were reached. This criminal enterprise was responsible for distributing numerous pounds of cocaine and other drugs within Nacogdoches County each week. Dismantling that operation and disrupting their supply chain will have an immediate crippling affect on illegal drug activity in our area.

     So far, seven defendants have been taken in custody on illegal drug and weapon charges and other arrests are likely. We appreciate the participation of each agency that assisted in making this possible, including: the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Alcohol-Tobacco & Firearms (ATF), U.S. Marshall’s Service, Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office and the Nacogdoches Police Department.

Jason Bridges, Pct. 4 Constable

     The Nacogdoches County Constable Office precinct 4 and the Nacogdoches Police department executed a search warrant Thursday morning that has led to the seizure of numerous types of narcotics found at a residence in Nacogdoches. Constable Jason Bridges stated that his office has had an ongoing investigation on the suspect for several weeks. The investigation started in precinct 4 where deputies with the constable office had recovered marijuana from two different traffic stops in the Woden and Melrose area. Constable Bridges stated that we were able to identify and track down the source of those drugs to a residence on Roberts street in the city of Nacogdoches.

     After identifying the source of where the narcotics came from, Bridges stated that Deputies conducted surveillance on the residence. During the surveillance, Deputies observed a high volume of traffic coming to and from the residence. Constable Bridges stated that his office conducted undercover purchases from the residence on two different occasions. Purchases of Crack Cocaine and Marijuana were made from the suspect. Bridges stated that these purchases and surveillance of the residence led to gathering enough probable cause for a search warrant.

     At or about 9:30 am, both agencies executed the search warrant at the residence. Officers conducted a search of the residence that led to the seizure of one pound of marijuana, 18 grams of crack cocaine, 230 grams of codeine, and one loaded pistol. Also located were several items of stolen property that had been taken from Walmart.

     Gregory Parks 36 years of age from Nacogdoches, Texas was arrested at the scene. Parks was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree felony, Unlawful Possession of a firearm by a felon, 3rd felony and Possession of Marijuana State Jail felony. Parks was also arrested for two deliveries of a controlled substance charges, a state jail felony.

     Parks is on parole until the year 2020 and had been recently released from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in September 2010 for a controlled substance charge.
