Jason Bridges, Pct. 4 Constable

The Nacogdoches County Constable Office precinct 4 has seized a methamphetamine lab and made two felony arrests late Friday afternoon. Constable Jason Bridges stated that his office conducted another search warrant that led to the confiscation of 100 grams of methamphetamine.

The investigation started on Harris Street inside the city of Nacogdoches. Constable Bridges stated that deputy constables arrived at a residence looking for a wanted fugitive while attempting to execute a felony drug warrant round up that the Constable Office had been working on during the early morning hours.

Bridges stated they arrived at the residence and observed drug paraphernalia and small amount of marijuana in clear view. Constable Bridges stated that his office obtained other information as well that led Deputies to obtain a search warrant of the residence.

Officers found a gallon jar mixed with chemicals inside the bedroom that tested positive for methamphetamine. The method being used to manufacture the methamphetamine was different from what the Constable Office has found before. The suspects were using a gallon jar, with chemicals inside that also had a rope tied from the top of the lid to the chemicals. The common street name for this type of cook is “DOPE ON A ROPE”, and is the first seizure of its type in Nacogdoches County using this method.

Constable Bridges stated that the narcotics lab contained over 100 grams of methamphetamine which is a significant amount of drugs that has been taken of our street. The street values of the drugs are $10,000.00.

Arrested at the scene were Daniel Harkins 34 years of age and Melissa Witt 52 years of age both from Nacogdoches Texas. Both subjects were charged with possession of a controlled substance a 2nd felony and booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail.
