Obituary: Frances Shaffer Passerotti
Mrs. Frances Shaffer Passerotti, 69, of Nacogdoches, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Nacogdoches Medical Center. She was born in Ironton, Ohio, to parents Eugene Shaffer and Jewell (Kelley) Shaffer on December 8, 1942.
A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at 7:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. John Spurgeon officiating.
Frances is survived by her husband, John Passerotti; children, Gini Blackwell and husband Michael of Nacogdoches, Lori Coffee and husband Roger of Hurricane, WV, Susi Stone and husband George of Sevierville, TN, Michael Passerotti and wife Sharon of Maineville, OH, Kathleen Leahy of Charlotte, NC, Clint Passerotti of Nacogdoches, and Liz Passerotti of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Andrew Blackwell, Jolynn Blackwell, Tina Young, Amanda Bristow and husband Willy, Tommy Kennerly, Marieann Forgus, Emma Stone, Genelle Stone, Alicia Passerotti, Elijah Passerotti, Joshua Passerotti, Jennafer Cribbs, Jerikah Cribbs, and Monica Skipper; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, John Shaffer and wife Nancy; sister, Virginia Paul and husband Harvey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Harriet Melroy.
Fran was John’s best friend for over 42 years. She was known as having the biggest heart of gold and touched so many hearts. Her home was open to everyone who would enter. Fran was a magnet for people. She expressed her love by her cooking, sewing, playing games, (that she always won), and sharing her trivia knowledge. She had unshakable faith in God and often encouraged people to live for Jesus. Her life was centered around her family and her kids. Fran was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She had an unbeatable smile and when you left her company you knew she cared for you. She will be greatly missed.

Bethel Chapel Baptist Church of Pineland: The Hoppers, southern gospel concert
Bethel Chapel Baptist Church of Pineland is happy to be presenting The Hoppers in a southern gospel concert on Friday, July 6, 2012. This special service begins at 7:00 p.m., according to the pastor, Dr. David Digmon.
No admission will be charged however a love offering will be received, the pastor adds.
Bethel Chapel is located at 854 U.S. Hwy. 96 North in Pineland. Interested persons may contact Dr. Digmon at 409-584-2461 or 409-893-3621 for further information.
The Hoppers family began singing gospel music in 1957, originally with Claude Hopper and his brothers. The group now consists of Claude Hopper, his wife of 50 years, Connie, along with their sons and daughter-in-law–Mike Hopper and Dean and Kim Hopper.
The Hoppers have traveled the world spreading the Gospel while performing favorites like “Jerusalem,” “Yes I Am,” “Shoutin’ Time,” “Yaweh,” “I’ve Come Too Far,” and many others. The group has always tried to remain stalwart in their sharing of hope and God’s unmatchable love, while keeping their faith in Christ and family. Their prayer is to extend this message to all who do not know him, and encourage those who do.
Known as “America’s Favorite Family of Gospel Music,” The Hoppers are favorites on the Gaither Homecoming series. They are grateful for the popularity that has come to the music they love, bringing a new audience to the lasting message through gospel music and the vision of Bill & Gloria Gaither and the Homecoming Friends.

Wilson Drive closures scheduled
Traffic flow along Wilson Drive on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University will be periodically interrupted for repaving beginning Wednesday, June 27.
Work has been planned in phases to minimize disrupted access to parking lots and facilities; however, street parking and through traffic on Wilson Drive will be curtailed during the project. The expected completion date is Aug. 8.
Scheduled closures are as follows:
On Thursday, June 27, Wilson Drive will be closed from East College Street to Lot 14:
·All street parking on Wilson Drive (Lot 18) will be closed;
·The East College Cafeteria loading dock will not be accessible;
·Lot 21 (Pay Lot) will be closed;
·Lot 53 (Tennis/Recreation Center) will be closed;
·Lot 51 (located near the Agriculture and Art buildings) will be closed;
·Art Studio/Residence Life Operations dock area will be closed; and
·The exit from the Physical Plant/Procurement dock area to Wilson Drive will be closed.
On June 27, or by June 28, the previously listed portion of Wilson Drive will temporarily reopen, and the southern half will close from Lot 14 to Starr Avenue. Lot 14 and Wilson Garage will be accessible on both days, but access will alternate between Starr Avenue and East College Street:
·All street parking on Wilson Drive (Lot 18) will be closed; and
·Lot 53 (Tennis/Recreation Center Lot) will be closed. (Use Lot 14.)
From June 29 to July 5, Wilson Drive will be closed from the East College Street to the entrance to Lot 21 (Pay Lot):
·All street parking on Wilson Drive (Lot 18) will be closed;
·East College Cafeteria loading dock will not be accessible;
·Art Studio/Residence Life Operations dock area will be closed; and
·The exit from the Physical Plant/Procurement dock area to Wilson Drive will be closed.
From July 5 to July 12, Wilson Drive will be closed from the entrance to Lot 21 (Pay Lot) to the north entrance to Lot 14 (Library Lot);
·All street parking on Wilson Drive (Lot 18) will be closed;
·The Wilson Garage entrance/exit to Wilson Drive will be closed, and the garage will be accessible via Lot 14; and
·Lot 51 (near the Agriculture and Art buildings) will be closed.
From July 13 to July 18, Wilson Drive will be closed from the entrance to Wilson Garage to the south entrance to Lot 14:
·All street parking on Wilson Drive (Lot 18) will be closed; and
·The north entrance to Lot 14 will be closed, and the lot will be accessible via the south driveway.
From July 19 to July 31, Wilson Drive will be closed from Starr Avenue to the south entrance to Lot 14:
·All street parking on Wilson Drive (Lot 18) will be closed; and
·Lot 53 (Tennis/Recreation Center Lot) will be closed. (Use Lot 14.)

June 25: NPD Crime Report
This is a complete list of reports responded to by the Nacogdoches Police Department
P12-10944- Aggravated Assault-a 19 year old female was involved in an altercation in the parking lot with a known female suspect. The suspect cut the victim on the cheek with a box cutter, causing a 2cm laceration.
P12-10969- A known suspect was in the victim’s apartment. The victim reported that the known suspect forced her to have a sex act with him. No weapons were used. Case under investigation.
P12-10983- The victim sustained lacerations to both palms in this case. The victim refused to file charges. Officers did recover some marijuana from the scene and the case remains open and under investigation.
