Participating merchants in historic downtown Nacogdoches are gearing up for their monthly installment of Senior Discount Day. The monthly shopping promotion is held on the 1st Tuesday of each month, which means Tuesday, December 4th seniors can receive an extra discount when shopping the red brick streets. “This is a great opportunity to come downtown and support small businesses while doing your holiday shopping,” said Main Street Manager Sarah O’Brien.
A variety of downtown merchants participate in the Senior Discount Day. A list of participating merchants will be available for pick up at the Convention & Visitors Bureau, located at 200 E. Main Street. Merchants for December include: A Beautiful You Salon and Spa, Nacogdoches Convention & Visitors Bureau, Wildflower, Brick Street Antiques, CASA, Glass Castles, Coats Gallery, Hotel Fredonia, Macy May’s, Oh Happy Day Lingerie, Old Town Antiques, Special Finds Antiques & Collectibles, Stuff N Such, The Mushroom, Trinkets to Treasures, Heart of Texas, House of Traditions, Oh Happy Day Lingerie, the Good Book, and Lyric’s French Knot Quilt Shop. “Special thanks to all of our merchants for making this in-store promotion possible,” said O’Brien.
While the definition of Senior Citizen varies historic downtown Nacogdoches merchants will honor the Senior Discount to residents and visitors over 55 years of age. The 10% discount will be honored at all of the participating merchants throughout the day on December 4th. Be sure to check individual store hours before making plans to head downtown!

Jaylin “Fritter” Anthony Brewer, 10, passed away at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston on November 28, 2012.
He was born February 26, 2002 to his parents, Sara Stripling of Marshall, Texas and Jermaine Brewer of San Antonio, Texas.
A funeral service will take place on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 2:30 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches.
Friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 5-8 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors in Nacogdoches.
Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.

The Nacogdoches Farmers’ Market, located at the “hitch lot” at the corner of West Main and Pearl Streets, is open from 8 a.m. until noon or later every Saturday morning. If the market parking lot is full, additional parking is available in the Nacogdoches County Courthouse Annex parking lot.
Please note that the Farmer’s Market is a “Smoke Free” facility for the health of our customers and vendors.
Mr. Michael “Mike” Antone Fox, 55, passed way at his residence in Etoile on November 27, 2012. He was born to parents Cleveland Lewis Fox and Ruth Spurgeon Fox on August 21, 1957 in Center, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 30 at Etoile United Pentecostal Church, 168
Highway 10, Etoile, Texas with Bro. Glenn D. Morton officiating and Bro. Willie Wade is assisting. Guests are invited to visitation from 1:00pm to 2:30 pm on Friday at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery.
