Jason Bridges, Pct. 4 Constable
Bridges stated that his office has had an ongoing investigation on the suspect, Marcus Tutt for several months. During the course of the investigation the constable office has purchased several thousand dollars’ worth of counterfeit money from the suspect.
The Nacogdoches Farmers Market will be hosting open as usual this Saturday so that everyone can finish up their holiday shopping! “This is a perfect opportunity to Shop Nac First and support our local farmers and vendors,” said Main Street Manager Sarah O’Brien. American Legion (post 86) food vendors will be back at the market this Saturday, December 22nd. They serve barbeque sandwiches, catfish plates, sausage on a stick and soft drinks. Proceeds to benefit US military veterans.
Things you might find this time of year: baked goods (breads, cakes, mini cheesecakes, cookies, fried pies & pies), organic beef, candles, canned goods (jams & jellies, marmalades, preserves, chow-chow, pickled vegetables, salsas & relishes), artisan Texas cheese, organic chicken, free-range eggs, organic tilapia fish filets, local raw honey, jewelry, plants (cacti, bedding plants, house plants, fruit trees, trees & whips), organic pork, smoothies, soaps (lye and herbal), sugar cane syrup, tamales, vinegars, fruit wines and wood products. The Nacogdoches Farmers’ Market, located at the “hitch lot” at the corner of West Main and Pearl Streets, is open from 8 a.m. until noon or later every Saturday morning. If the market parking lot is full, additional parking is available in the Nacogdoches County Courthouse Annex parking lot
Please note that the Farmer’s Market is a “Smoke Free” facility for the health of our customers and vendors.
Beginning Wednesday, December 26th W. Cox Street will be closed for street repairs. The road work is expected to last approximately two weeks. W. Cox will be barricaded just west of Bremond Street for west bound traffic, and just east of Virginia Avenue for east bound traffic. Total area of street to be closed is approximately 150 feet.
Home owners in the area will still have access to their residences by using Virginia Ave. or coming east on W. Cox to Virginia. Motorists are encouraged to use caution and drive slowly when in the area.

Due to scheduled electrical maintenance in the Boynton Building on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus, the student-run radio station, KSAU 90.1, and television station, SFA-TV2 (Channel 2 on Suddenlink), will be off the air from Tuesday, Dec. 25, through Tuesday, Jan. 1. Regular programming will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
With the holidays fast approaching it is important to remember that you can still do your part and recycle this holiday season. Gift boxes, wrapping paper, old electronics, and Christmas trees are just a few of the items you may have laying around your house after Santa returns to the North Pole. You can help make the world’s holiday season brighter by taking your recyclable materials from the holidays to any of these locations:
• Christmas wrapping paper, plastic and cardboard boxes from your gifts can be taken to recycling bins located behind the CL Simon Recreation Center.
• Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful will be hosting their E-Cycle event behind the Recreation Center/Nacogdoches Public Library, 1112 North Street. This e-cycle drop off location is open every Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon and on the second Saturday of the month, 9 a.m. to noon. All old electronics, except televisions will be accepted.
• Christmas trees, with all of the decorations removed, can be left on the curb in front of your house and the City’s Brush truck will pick it up along its normal route.
Remember that Recycling is Easy in Nacogdoches, here are a few tips for additional materials you may have:
• Clean number 1 and number 2 plastics can be taken to recycling bins behind the Recreation Center and at the landfill.
• Paper and cardboard can be taken to recycling bins located behind the CL Simon Recreation Center and at the landfill.
• Clean aluminum cans can be donated to the Animal Shelter or the Senior Center to help raise funds for their programs
• The Staples store will help you recycle household batteries and ink cartridges
• You can take plastic grocery bags back to the store to be recycled. Look for the bins or ask a customer service representative.
• Glass, metals, and building materials can be taken to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore to be reused for a good cause.
