The Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau and Stephen F. Austin State University recently hosted a grand opening and ribbon cutting for the Nacogdoches Azalea Trail in the Council Ring of the Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden on the SFA campus. The event kicked off the 15th annual Azalea Trail, which continues through March 31.
Members of the Piney Woods Chorale will have a garage sale to raise money for the group’s upcoming trip to Orlando, Fla., where they will perform at Disney World.
The sale will be held all day Saturday and Sunday, March 16 and 17, at Nacogdoches Trade Days, 1304 N.W. Stallings Drive, in conjunction with the monthly weekend marketplace.
The Piney Woods Chorale will represent Stephen F. Austin State University, the SFA School of Music and Music Preparatory Division when they perform on a Disney stage. For their performance, 22 chorale members in fourth through 12th grades will sing a variety of Rodgers and Hammerstein classics, such as “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning,” “Edelweiss,” “June is Bustin’ Out All Over,” “Do-Re-Me” and more. Nicole Stewart is the director, assisted by Shelby Tillery. Accompanist is Michelle Schwartz.
Parents, Chorale members and friends will travel by motor coach and stay on Disney property June 10 through 15. Anyone interested in accompanying the Chorale on its trip should contact Pat Barnett, director of the Music Preparatory Division, by calling (936) 46801291 or at pbarnett@sfasu.edu.

All meals, art supplies and on-campus lodging are included in the $400 registration fee.
Registration for the retreat is limited, and the registration deadline is Friday, May 24. Applications and instructions for registering are available at www.art.sfasu.edu/retreat.
For more information, e-mail Blount at blountmarsh@sfasu.edu. Inquiries should include the educator’s school name, teaching level, school telephone number and educator’s e-mail address.
