(October 17, 2024): Around 9:49 a.m. Nacogdoches police officers responded to reports of a major collision in the 3100 block of N. University Dr. When officers arrived they found that an adult female pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. The female was transported by EMS to the hospital but has since passed away. The Criminal Investigation Division responded to assist in the investigation. At this time it is believed the victim attempted to cross the four lane roadway and was struck by a Ford pickup that was traveling southbound on N. University Dr. The driver of the pickup was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. As further information becomes available it will be released.
