HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION LEADS TO CAPITAL MURDER WARRANTS

August 8, 2024 – authorities from the Nacogdoches Police Department, in collaboration with various other agencies, served 7 Capital Murder warrants on 7 suspects connected to the homicide that occurred on July 30, 2024, in the 400 block of W. California St. As of now, all suspects are in custody, with one of them being apprehended in Louisiana. All were taken into custody without incident.

The following individuals have been charged with Capital Murder: Raul Molina Lopez, aged 20, from Nacogdoches, Tx; Nathan Joshua Sauceda, aged 21, from Nacogdoches, Tx; Santiago Mendoza, aged 19, from Nacogdoches, Tx; Gerardo Christopher Ocon, aged 21, from Nacogdoches, Tx; Lionso Antonio Torres, aged 19, from Nacogdoches, Tx; Eder Torres, aged 17, from Nacogdoches, Tx; and Martin H. Montalvo, aged 19, from Lufkin, Tx.

The issuance and execution of these warrants represents the dedicated efforts of the responding officers and committed investigators who worked tirelessly to identify the culprits responsible for this crime. According to the investigation, it is believed that the suspects planned to rob the individuals at the residence on W. California St. At the time of the robbery,several individuals, including the victim, were present inside the residence. Witness accounts and evidence suggest that at least three out of the seven suspects are believed to have used firearms during the robbery. A total of 3 individuals are believed to have been struck by gunfire during the homicide.

A large number of firearms have been recovered during the initial search warrants that were served and during the execution of today’s arrest warrants.

It is believed that this case involved the highest number of suspects ever in an NPD murder investigation.

Arrangements are being made for the return of the suspect arrested in Louisiana.

Throughout the course of this homicide investigation law enforcement personnel have dedicated over 1534 man hours to ensure that those responsible were brought to justice. We express our gratitude to the U.S. Marshals, Homeland Security, ATF, Nacogdoches Sheriff’s Dept., Lufkin Police, Center Police, U.S. Postal Inspector, U.S. Marshals, and the Nacogdoches Combined SWAT Team for their invaluable assistance in the investigation and warrant execution.
