NPD INVESTIGATING FATAL ACCIDENT

The Nacogdoches Police Department is currently on scene in the 1700 block of N.E. Stallings Dr, investigating a fatal accident. Nacogdoches Police and Nacogdoches Fire and Rescue were called to the area at about 7:30 Wednesday evening in reference to a two-vehicle head on collision. Police and fire personnel found two cars in the roadway appearing to have been in a head on collision. One driver was pronounced deceased at the scene and the other driver was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Neither vehicle had any other occupants besides the drivers. Nacogdoches EMS and Nacogdoches Justice of the Peace David Perkins also responded to the scene.

Police and Tx DOT have the scene closed to all traffic while they investigate the accident. The area will likely be closed for several hours from Starr Avenue (FM 1878) south to Park Street. More information will be released as it becomes available.

UPDATE:

The Nacogdoches Police Department is continuing to investigate an auto fatality accident that occurred Wednesday evening on N.E. Stallings Drive at approximately 7:30 pm.
The deceased driver has been identified as Leigh Allum, 53, of Nacogdoches. The driver of the second vehicle was Chistopher Garsee, 43, of Nacogdoches.
Garsee was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The accident was a head on collision just south of Starr Avenue (FM 1878).
The area was closed for approximately 5 hours while officers in the NPD Traffic Division investigated the cause of the accident. The roadway is now back open.
