Hazel K. Hartt

     Hazel K. Hartt, 87, lifelong resident of Nacogdoches, passed away on February 10, 2011. She was born in Nacogdoches on April 6, 1923 to parents, Jesse and Ruby Kirkley.

     Mrs. Hartt had always been an active person with family, church, and yard work. In her busy schedule she found time to enjoy ceramics, crochet, and create floral arrangements which she enjoyed sharing with her friends. Hazel could always be found doing things for people. She especially liked to cook and make things for people and was rewarded by the time she could spend visiting with those who needed her. As she grew older, she discovered playing Canasta, which she claimed to enjoy more than the household chores. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

     Hazel is survived by her son, Bobby Beavers and his wife, Cuba, of Tyler Texas; grandson, Andy Beavers and his wife, Francie, of Sugarland, Texas; granddaughter , Mitzi Hardee, of Tyler, Texas; great- grandchildren, Preston, Anna, Ella, Madeline, and Drew; brothers, Chester, and E. W. “Sonny” Kirkley; sisters, Ivy Louise and Myrtle Pauline.

     She is preceded in death by Hollis Beavers, her first husband; John L. Hartt, her second husband; Sandra Beavers, her daughter; Edna Crisp, Dorothy Kirkley, Ruth, Addie Jo Hensley, and Dorothy Kirkley, her four sisters; and brother, Troy.

     Friends and guests may attend visitation on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm. at Cason Monk-Monk Metcalf Funeral Directors. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday at 10:00 am, in Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Pastor Ken Pate officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

     The family of Hazel would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of Willowbrook Nursing Center for the care they administered to Hazel while she was in their keeping.
