The Nacogdoches Police Department is investigating an early morning traffic accident that involved a Nacogdoches ISD school bus.

The accident occurred at 7:02 a.m. this morning at the intersection of NE Loop 224 and the Appleby Sand Road.

A 2014 Thomasbuilt school bus, driven by James Young, 70 of Nacogdoches was stopped for a westbound red traffic signal at NE Loop 224 and Appleby Sand. When the light turned green, the bus was struck from behind by a 2001 Acurra, driven by Arthur Pruitt II, 29 of Nacogdoches. The accident resulted in the Accura being partially lodged under the rear of the bus.

The driver of the Accura was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The school bus had 20 high school students on board and no injuries to any bus passengers were reported at the scene.

Nacogdoches Fire and Rescue, Nacogdoches Ambulance Service, Nacogdoches ISD Police and NISD Administration all responded to the accident.
