Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful collected 1,400 pounds of recycled electronics on Saturday, June 24, during its quarterly technology recycling event, Techcycle Saturday.

“We’ve collected almost 4,000 lbs. of recycled electronics from 140 people this year,” Katie Blevins, Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful executive director, said. The recycling collection rate for the KNB Techcycle Saturday collection program has more than doubled in 2017. Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful volunteers collected 1,192 lbs during the last quarter of 2016.

Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful was assisted by volunteers from the Nacogdoches County Board of Realtors, who assisted with unloading and tallying items.

“Techcycle Saturday is a great volunteer and sponsorship option for groups and businesses,” Blevins said. “It’s an opportunity to get you name, and faces, in front of a large number of people while performing a service that benefits the environment and effects the sustainability of our community.”

Techcycle Saturday is a free technology recycling event, offered quarterly during 2017. The final event for 2017 is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 23 at 220 W. Hospital Street, across from the Nacogdoches Farmers Market.

Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that promotes waste reduction, litter management and beautification throughout Nacogdoches County. If you or your organization would like to volunteer at Techcycle Saturday or partner with KNB, email info@keepnacbeautiful.org or visit www.keepnacbeautiful.org.
