Celebrating the Blueberry Festival at the Public Library

The Nacogdoches Public Library invites the community and visitors to celebrate the Blueberry Festival with two fun and free workshops in the days leading up to the Festival. On Thursday, June 8th at 5:30 p.m. join library staff for crepe making lessons at Build a Better Blueberry Crepe, and on Friday, June 9th at 3:30 p.m. drop in for a make and take workshop, Best Blueberry Body Scrub. STEAM for Kids at the Public Library

The Nacogdoches Public Library invites kids ages 7-11 to attend STEAM for Kids on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. beginning on June 8th. Summer STEAM for Kids will be devoted to the art of filmmaking. Participants will investigate types of cameras, types of videos, enhancing videos through lighting and sound, and how to edit and share our videos. Each program will have a different lesson so children can participate as they are able.

STEAM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. By offering STEAM classes, the public library strives to provide an environment where children can become engaged in fun, hands-on learning activities in an informal setting. Makerspace at the Public Library

The Nacogdoches Public Library invites community members ages 10 and up to Makerspace Mondays, beginning June 5th at 5:30 p.m. This summer every Monday will be devoted to movie making in a wide variety of formats. Participants will tackle stop motion animation, live action stop motion, shooting techniques, scripting, acting, editing, green screen, and more. Google Sheets & Docs

Nacogdoches Public Library will offer a free computer class called Google Sheets & Docs on Wednesday, June 7th at 5:30 pm. The class will introduce students to the free on-line application. Google Sheets & Docs offer many common document and spreadsheet features, but work is stored online and can be accessed from any Internet-accessible computer or laptop. It is great for working in groups or working from multiple locations. The class is free, but some computer experience is required. Cinema en EspaƱol

Nacogdoches Public Library will add a special movie to its Movie Night repertoire, the first in a soon-to-be Spanish-language movie series. The event will feature free popcorn, light snacks and a Selena-Look-a-Like and Dance Contest. Selena was the talented, young Tejano singer whose life was cut short. While it has been over 20 years since her death, she remains hugely popular, even among fans who had not been born when she died. The movie event will be held Saturday, June 17th at 6:30 pm. The event is open to all ages, but attendance is limited. Tickets to this free event may be obtained at the check-out desk of the public library.
