Early Release Afternoons at the Public Library

The Nacogdoches Public Library will offer Early Release Afternoon on Thursday, April 13th from 12:30-2:00 pm. The city library will have board games, coloring, Xbox and a movie to entertain kids and adults right before the holidays. The library will be closed April 14th – 16th. No registration is required, but children ages 8 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Call 559-2970 for more information.

Microsoft Excel Classes at the Public Library

The Nacogdoches Public Library will offer free Microsoft Excel classes on April 11th and 12th. Part I will be an introduction to the menu, formula writing and formatting. Part II will feature file organization, using multiple sheets and special features. Students will also get an introduction to some online file sharing programs, great for work or school group projects. Both sessions are from 5:30-7:30 p.m. For more information about the library computer classes or other programs, please call 559-2970.

Movie Night at the Public Library

The Nacogdoches Public Library invites the community to attend Movie Night on Friday, April 21st at 6:30 p.m. The film is rated PG-13, admission is free, and the Friends of the Public Library will be providing snacks and drinks. Altered Books Workshop at the Public Library

The Nacogdoches Public Library is offering an Altered Books Workshop on Thursday, April 27th at 5:30 p.m. The community is invited to learn how to turn old books into new art. This workshop offers a chance to learn techniques and share ideas for how to make journals, albums, scrapbooks, gifts and much more.

“While we treasure our books, sometimes they get damaged beyond repair, but there are ways to breathe new life into books that can no longer be read,” says Crystal Hicks, assistant library director. “We welcome all skills levels, and there will be something suitable for any art, craft, or book lover.”

The workshop is for adults and free, but registration is required. Please call 559-2970 to sign up or for more information.

Día de los niños Celebration at the Public Library

The Judy B. McDonald Public Library invites people of all ages to participate in a Día de los niños Celebration on Saturday, April 29th at 2:30 p.m. Día de los niños (Children’s Day) celebrates children, languages and the diversity of cultures represented in our community.

This year, we will celebrate our neighbors from Brazil. We will learn a bit of Portuguese, taste some of the foods of Brazil, and discover what everyday life is like for Brazilian children.

Essential Oils First Aid Kits at the Public Library

The Nacogdoches Public Library is offering a workshop for adults on Essential Oils First Aid Kits on Saturday, April 29th at 2:30 p.m. Essential oils occur naturally in plants, many of which can be used for healing and maintaining good health. Come learn which oils can be used to soothe burns, treat lice naturally and much more.
