Nacogdoches ISD and the City of Nacogdoches will be experiencing a brief transition period of Cable Access Channel 21 beginning December 16 at 12 midnight.

The City of Nacogdoches is working closely with Suddenlink to house the station at City Hall and will go live with regular programming, such as City Commission meetings, after the first of the year.

“In an effort to utilize resources effectively, NISD eliminated the personnel position that operated the station in September,” NISD interim superintendent, Sandra Dowdy, said. “To date, the channel has been on a loop so we are excited to transition the channel to a place where it can be managed and updated for the Nacogdoches community.”

The City of Nacogdoches and NISD have been in partnership on this project since April 2014 in order to serve the community valuable information and original content from both entities.

“In addition to public meetings, this channel serves to inform residents with public information regarding government operations, promotions and events throughout the city, and for use in emergency communications,” Amy Mehaffey, City of Nacogdoches Communications Director, said. “We have been pleased with the response from the public regarding Nac TV and have elected to continue programming once we have capabilities to do so.”
