The Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce Fourth Friday Luncheon will honor its non-profit members as home town heroes. The event also gives the public a unique opportunity to visit with the organizations’ representatives one-on-one and find the right “volunteer fit.”

The lunch and program are from noon to 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 22, at Austin Hall, 4603 North St. Gold sponsor is XETX Business Solutions.

“Many great home town heroes work at our local non-profit organizations. They go to work each day, not to get rich, but to make a difference in the lives of those in need. It’s their calling,” said Chamber Vice Chair Scott Waller, owner of XETX Business Solutions. “The Chamber salutes our heroes for their tireless, dedicated work. Nacogdoches is a much better place, and the people of Nacogdoches are better off because of them.

Waller and the Chamber board of directors encourage all from the community, especially those who are retired, to attend this luncheon.

“With all of the volunteer opportunities represented at this meeting, anyone should be able to find a good fit for their ability and passion,” Waller said.

Keynote speaker John Fontenot, former Special Operations Operator (ARMY) and Current Coordinator of Stephen F. Austin’s Veterans Resource Center, will present “Making Sense of the Very Complex.”

As the coordinator of the Veteran’s Resource Center, Fontenot focuses on providing services to veteran students that assist in managing the day-to-day stressors associated with transitioning back into civilian life, including the unique challenges faced as these students work to gain a college education.

Fontenot has worked to build a solid framework and philosophy that supports a service-oriented veteran’s center at SFA, and feels as though his current role is just as important as the various roles he held during his actual service in the military.

Proudly serving those who served, Fontenot works daily to guide SFA’s veterans to college success.

Luncheon reservations are requested by noon, Wednesday, Jan. 20. A secure “register and pay online” option is available at www.nacogdoches.org in Hot News or contact the Chamber, 936-560-5533, for registration. Lunch is $16.

Bring a business card for a chance to win $50 sponsored by Commercial Bank of Texas and all Chamber members are entered in a $250 drawing sponsored by Axley & Rode, LLP.
