Fredonia Hotel update at Chamber meeting

Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce Second Friday Luncheon is from noon to 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11, at Austin Hall, 4603 North St.

John R. McLaren, General Manager, The Fredonia Hotel & Convention Center, will present “Fredonia Hotel Economic Impact and Employment Outlook.” The event Gold sponsor is Austin Bank.

“So many in our community are excited for the return of the Hotel Fredonia,” said Dr. Adam Peck, Assistant Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs, SFASU. “I look forward to learning more about the plans for and progress toward restoring this Nacogdoches landmark.”

McLaren is originally from Dallas where began a career in hotels and restaurants more than 25 years ago. He was first employed with The Stoneleigh Hotel, an independent historic hotel built in 1923. The majority of his experience was with several Crowne Plaza hotels as well as Marriott and Hilton properties in the DFW area. He moved to Nacogdoches about seven years ago where he managed the Hampton Inn & Suites and Comfort Suites properties.

Representatives from the East Texas Human Resources Association will also attend and be available to explain the organization’s role and benefits for members.
