City & Chamber ready for Small Business Saturday

Shop local on November 28th

City of Nacogdoches Main Street and the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce have teamed up again to promote the “shop local” message of Small Business Saturday set for Nov. 28. Local businesses throughout the county are invited to participate.

“As a small business, it’s tough to compete with Black Friday deals,” Amy Mehaffey, City of Nacogdoches Main Street Director said. “This initiative is a great way to encourage locals to ‘Shop Nac First’ and keep local dollars in our beloved community.”

Businesses may use the Shop SmallĀ® marketing materials while supplies are available. Contact the Nacogdoches County Chamber at 936-560-5533 for more information. Downtown merchants may contact Mehaffey at 936-559-2573.

“The City and Chamber are thrilled to once again promote this city-wide event,” Mehaffey said. “This will be held in conjunction with Downtown’s Annual Wassail Fest in order to incentivize shopping local but is of course, not limited to downtown businesses.”

Shoppers can stop by participating local businesses and take an active role in building the local economy. A list of businesses participating will be available at the Visitor’s Center in Downtown Nacogdoches on November 28.

Wassil Fest will be held in participating businesses from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm as well.

About Small Business Saturday

November 28th marks the sixth annual Small Business Saturday, a day dedicated to supporting the local businesses that create jobs, boost the economy and preserve neighborhoods around the country. Small Business Saturday was created by American Express in 2010 in response to small business owners’ most pressing need: more customers.

We hope to see you on Saturday, 11/28!
