Nacogdoches Police Officers have made some significant progress in the investigation of a felony hit and run accident in the 3300 block of NE Stallings late Saturday night.

At approximately 10:13 pm Saturday night, NPD dispatch received a call about a teenage pedestrian accident victim lying in the roadway on NE Stallings Dr across from Nacogdoches High School. The teenage pedestrian victim was coming or going from the Nacogdoches Homecoming dance at the high school at the time of the accident.

Late Monday an individual came to NPD with his vehicle at the urging of a family member. The subject informed investigators that he was involved in the accident and evidence was found on the vehicle that is consistent with the evidence investigators were searching for from such an accident. The subject is cooperating with NPD and an arrest will be forthcoming.

NPD investigators will continue the investigation until it is complete and presented to the District Attorney.

“NPD would like to thank the community for all the support of the victim’s family and for all the positive comments over the last 3 days. We could not have done as much as we have without the assistance of other area law enforcement agencies and the community,” said Lt. Dan Taravella. “Although there is still much more investigating to do to bring this to completion, we hope this new information will bring some comfort to the victim’s family.”

Nacogdoches Police are still asking anyone with information about the accident to contact the NPD Traffic Division at 936-559-2639.
