Wright (Democratic): Looking back post-election

Stephen Wright, Nacogdoches Democratic Chair:

Like many fellow Democrats around the state and nation, we had a disappointing 2010 election. Still, there is a silver lining: We maintained a majority in the U.S. Senate, still have our President, look forward to continuing our economic growth over the next two years and maintaining our accomplishments over the same time period.

I want to take this time to personally thank all of our Democrats for their efforts. My hat goes off to Kenneth Franks, Reggie Cotton, Lane Bradshaw, Bill White, Hank Gilbert, Jeff Weems, and all of our other statewide candidates. Each of them ran a great campaign and deserve our thanks for their willingness to serve and their tireless commitment to our party. I also want to thank and congratulate Dorothy Tigner-Thompson, David Perkins, and Carol Wilson for winning reelection! All of our amazing precinct chairs have put forth tremendous time and effort over the past year and without them, our party would be non-existent. Thanks to all of our Democrats who contributed to our county party with their time, money, expertise, and votes, as well as the Daily Sentinel for its balanced coverage in the news section. On a final note, we extend thanks to all of our election workers, Debra Gaston, Todd Stallings, Karen Butler, and our entire Nacogdoches County Elections office for conducting yet another flawless election. We are truly fortunate to have the best elections team in the state.

We look forward to taking a break and revamping for the 2012 elections. Despite the setback, we truly believe that the Democratic principles of equal opportunity, a living wage for all, a top-notch public education system, a clean environment, and a strong economy that benefits everyone have contributed to the greatness of our nation and we will continue to give a voice to those in Nacogdoches County who support those principles

Stephen Wright, Chairman
Nacogdoches County Democratic Party
