Storybook Saturday

The City of Nacogdoches Historic Sites Department invites everyone to come to the last Storybook Saturday of 2014 on Saturday, December 13th at 10:30 a.m. at the Sterne-Hoya House Museum and Library. This Christmas themed story time will feature the stories of The Gingerbread Man and Hansel and Gretel told by volunteers from the Stephen F. Austin State University Theater Department. Costumed storytellers will tell stories while the audience enjoys sugar cookies and hot cocoa.

The two stories we are telling, The Gingerbread Man and Hansel and Gretel are very popular stories today, but have historical roots. Hansel & Gretel is a story written by the famed Brothers Grimm and first published in 1812. The story of The Gingerbread Man first appeared in the May 1875 issue of St. Nicholas Magazine.

This is our fifth Storybook Saturday event held in 2014 and we believe this event is a great way to celebrate the holiday season and to round out the 2014 Historic Sites Department Events. Storybook Saturdays are made possible through a partnership with the SFA Theater Department.
The Sterne-Hoya House Museum and Library is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. For additional information concerning the event, please contact the Jessica Sowell at 936-560-4441 or email historicsites@ci.nacogdoches.tx.us.
