Something magical is happening at the Sterne-Hoya House Museum and Library! Some of our favorite fairy tale princesses, Belle and Rapunzel, will visit the Sterne-Hoya House Museum and Library on Friday, June 20th at 3 p.m. The princesses will spend the afternoon in our museum telling their stories and showing off some of our museum pieces.
Visitors are asked to arrive 10 minutes before story time starts so they can find a seat and get ready to listen. Not only will they learn about fairy tales, they will also be introduced to some of our museum pieces that appear all through the fairy tales and be able to take pictures with the princesses afterwards. These stories are not only entertaining and magical, they are historic stories; the story of Beauty and the Beast made its first appearance in 1740 and the story of Rapunzel was first published by the Brothers Grimm in 1812.
The Judy B. McDonald Public Library will be on site and will be signing people up for library cards if they don’t already have one. The Public Library has a large and extensive Children’s section with hundreds of fairy tales – including Beauty and the Beast and Rapunzel.
This event is made possible through cooperation with the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre. Several of their students will portray the princesses. Admission to this event is free and the event is appropriate for all ages.
