Nac 101 Classes will Begin in July

Have you ever wanted to sneak a peek behind the scenes of city government? Do you ever wander how you tax dollars are put to work? Nac 101 classes give citizens the opportunity to not only learn about the functions of city government, but also meet the men and women who serve their community every day.
Meetings will be held twice a month from 5:30- 7:45 pm starting July 10 through October 23. Nac 101 is open to all Nacogdoches city residents over the age of 18. “Each of our classes will showcase a different department within the city. We want residents to learn what we do every day to not only keep Nacogdoches up and running, but make the city the best small town in Texas.” said Brian Bray, Director of Community Services. Citizens can look forward to classes such as “We Build the City” that will feature Public Works and Water Utilities and “Something for Everyone” that will feature the Historic Sites and Main Street Departments. These are just two examples of the 8 classes that will be featured throughout the summer and into the fall.
Applications for the NAC 101 program are currently available in the City Secretary’s office located at City Hall and can also be accessed on our city website (www.ci.nacogdoches.tx.us). The first day of class will be on July 10, 2014 and will be held in the City Council Chambers at 202 East Pilar Street. The class is limited to 20 students, so please turn in your applications as soon as possible.
