Students in the Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will present their spring recitals beginning April 29 and continuing through May 18.
“The students have worked hard this semester in order to bring their gift of music to parents, families and friends,” said Pat Barnett, division director.
Harp students of Emily Mitchell will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, in the Music Recital Hall. On Sunday, May 4, is the SFA student teachers’ students recital and a performance of the piano students of Mario Ajero at 2 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall.
The Piney Woods Youth Orchestra will perform at 7 p.m. Monday, May 5, in Cole Concert Hall with Dr. Evgeni Raychev, director, and Pavel Baez, assistant director.
Raychev’s cello students and the violin/viola students of Dr. Jenifer Dalmas will present their spring recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8, in the Music Recital Hall.
The Suzuki violin students of Brenda Josephsen will perform at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 8, and at 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, in the Music Recital Hall.
A number of piano recitals are planned for Saturday, May 10, including the students of Theresa Moon and Bruno Ribeiro at 2 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall, the students of Linda Parr at 2 p.m. in Cole Concert Hall, and the students of Dr. Ping-Ting Lan at 4 p.m. in Cole Concert Hall. Piano students of Mary Cooper will present their recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 11, in Cole Concert Hall.
The Piney Woods Chorale, directed by Nicole Stewart, will perform at 6 p.m. Monday, May 12, in the Music Recital Hall.
The final recital of the semester will feature a performance of the violin/viola students of Melissa Nabb at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18, in the Music Recital Hall.
