Obituary: Jack Edward West

Mr. Jack (Papa Jack) Edward West , 80, passed away January 2, 2014, at his residence in Nacogdoches.
He was born July 14, 1933, in Springfield, Missouri, to parents Edgar West and Ovel (Anderson) West. He married the love of his life Doris Maxine Arnold in 1951. They were married for 59 ½ years.
He was preceded in death by Doris Maxine West on June 21, 2012.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 and retired in 1970. Mr. Jack lived in Nacogdoches for several years.
He worked for Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Department for 15 years. He was a Swift Masonic Lodge member, an active member of the East Texas Motorcycle Enthusiast (sponsors of Make a Wish Foundation), and an active member of the Nacogdoches Gypsy MotorCycle Club.
He is survived by three loving sons, Bruce West and wife Beth of Houston, Randy West and wife Danita of Nacogdoches, and Bryan West of Garrison; granddaughters, Eleesha Guido and husband Joe of Fort Collins, Colorado, Laura Beth West of Ankeny, Iowa, and Tanya Luna of Charlotte, North Carolina; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are set for 2:30 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2014, at Cason Monk-Metcalf’s Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street, Nacogdoches. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery off Highway 21 East.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 5, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
