Obituary: John Mancil “Pappy” Wallace

John Mancil “Pappy” Wallace, age 88, passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2013.
He was born June 1, 1925, in the Rocky Hill area of Angelina County. Mr. Wallace was a longtime resident of Woden before relocating to the Tyler area a few years ago. He worked several years with the Nacogdoches County Road & Bridge Dept., as well as a logger. He served his country with the U.S. Army.
His survivors include his children and their spouses, Lynn Wallace and Carolyn, Jeanell Richardson and Jesse, Belinda Meeks and Joe, Kathi Martin and Donnie, Tammy McShan and Richard, Terry Smith and Larry, Gayla Hooper and Richard, and John Russell Wallace; a brother, Aubra Wallace; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Mae; parents, John W. and Malisie Wallace; brothers, Arthur and Burlon; and sisters, Charlsie, Elizabeth, and Lucille.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, with Larry Trekell officiating. Interment will follow at Rocky Hill Cemetery in Angelina County.
Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the funeral home.
