Obituary: Mary Marie Keating Simpson

Funeral service for Mary Marie Simpson, 93, of Center, formerly of Mt. Enterprise, will be held at 2:00 PM , Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Taylor Funeral Home, Timpson, with Bro. Darrel Owens and Bro. Gary Nolan officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM, Saturday, also at Taylor Funeral Home. Interment will follow in County Line Cemetery, Timpson. Mrs. Simpson passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013.

Born June 25, 1920, in the County Line Community of Panola County, Marie was the daughter of the late Jim Richard Keating and Odessa Burks Keating. Marie graduated from Timpson High School after which she married Red Simpson on December 14, 1940, and she spent her life as a loving wife and homemaker. While Red and Marie had no children, her many nieces and nephews filled the void and became like her own children. She spent many years attending all the special moments in their lives.

Survivors include brother, Leo Keating, Burleson, TX; sisters, Lillie Chadwick of Nacogdoches, TX, JoAnn Gary, of Timpson, TX, and Lanette Els, of Center; nephews, Richard Gary of Tomball, TX, Mark Gary of Spring, TX, Bradley Els of Spring, Jimmy Smith of Nacogdoches, Donald Smith of Center, Mitchell Keating, of Burleson, Jerry Keating of Alvarado, TX, Steven Keating of Alvarado and Woody Keating of Mt Enterprise, TX; nieces, Nancy Kathryn Richard of Spring, Barbara Crouch of Baytown, TX, Dayla Hill of Cypress, TX, Paula Smith of Burleson, Ruth Keating-Allen of Burleson, Susan Nolan of Garrison, Kimberly Pleasant of Nacogdoches and Linda Herrera of Albuquerque, New Mexico; as well as a host of great-nieces and nephews and good friends.

In addition to her parents, Marie Simpson was preceded in death by husband L.D. “Red” Simpson; brothers Harold Keating, Glen Keating and Douglas Keating; sister Donella Jimmerson; nephews, James Jimmerson and Clifton Keating, and niece Betty Cole.
