Mr. John Tullis Blake Jr., age 78, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013. Born September 15, 1934, in Houston to parents John T. Blake Sr. and Ruth Baughman Blake, he had been a longtime resident of the Appleby and Houston areas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia Ann Blake, on November 12, 2012.
His survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, John T. Blake III and Deborah Ann Blake of Katy, Richard “Bubba” Blake and wife Connie of Richmond, and Bennett Donald Blake and William Daniel “Danny” Blake and wife Gemi , all of Katy; and grandchildren, John T. Blake IV and wife Tonie, Taylor M. Blake, and Shawn M. Blake, all of Katy, Jacob Blake of Houston, Joseph Blake and wife Erin of Katy, Sarah Blake of Richmond, Christopher Donald Blake, Tiffany Nicole Blake, and Kayla D. Blake, all of Katy; brother, Roy Don Blake and wife Dixie of Wimberley, Texas.
John graduated from New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico and joined the United States Army serving as corporal during the Korean War. Upon his return he married Patricia Ann Blake in 1956 and began their new life together. He was the founder and CEO of J.B. Alloy Company of South Houston, Texas and served the welding industry for many years. In his later years John sold his company and retired to his family horse farm in Nacogdoches.
John was a caring man, a giving man, a devoted Christian, a mason, and the family man his family looked up to. For many years he and Patsy supported the Round Rock Orphanage of Round Rock, Tx.
John loved and cherished his Patsy, worked side by side with her every day and now they are happily together serving the Lord in their new home in heaven. They both will be greatly missed and not forgotten.
Funeral services have been set for 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Bethel Baptist Church, located at 429 Happy Land Road in Appleby, Texas, with Pastor Steve Ewton officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Cason Monk-Metcalf, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches.
