Obituary: Ursula Kathryn Green Henry

Mrs. Ursula Kathryn Green Henry died May 30, 2013. She was born in Athens, Ohio on June 28, 1927, to Darrell Bennett Green and Minnie Jean Lotich Green.
Funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Monday, June 3, 2013, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Rev. John Bingham officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
Ursula graduated from Athens High School with honors in 1945 and from Ohio University Cum Lauda in 1949, with a major in Applied Music and Clarinet.
During high school she was a member of both the Athens High School band as solo clarinet and also the Ohio University band as first chair clarinet. In college she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity, and the O.U. band and orchestra. She was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program.
In 1951, she and George Keith Henry were married and resided in Athens. Ursula taught music and 9th grade English in the Allensville, Ohio schools. Keith was drafted into the army and was stationed at Ft. Dix, N.J. Ursula joined him and spent the next year and a half working for the civil service at Ft. Dix.
Ursula and Keith returned to Athens in 1953. Ursula taught the 3rd grade in Athens until Keith took a job with the Buick division of General Motors in Lubbock, Texas. Ursula taught 6th grade in Lubbock until Keith was transferred to El Paso. Their daughter Cynthia Jean was born there in December 1955. Next came four years in Houston, two and a half years in Omaha, NE, and then seven years in Thousand Oaks, CA, where Ursula taught Kindergarten. After that they lived in Flint, MI, Portland, OR, and back to Houston. They moved to Nacogdoches in 1989, where she has been a member of the Open Door Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church, Dilettante Study Club and the D.A.R.
Ursula is survived by her husband, Keith Henry; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Greg James; Granddaughter and husband Katie and Henson Barns of Austin, TX.; and also a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father and sister, Nona Jean Burnfield.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors.
