Obituary: Scotlin Chambers

Mr. Scotlin Chambers, age 68, passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on April 30, 2013. He was the youngest of eight children born on May 4, 1944 in Kirbyville, Texas, to parents Dolly Scotlin and Grace Chambers.
Mr. Chambers is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Esko Chambers, half sister, Geneva Bridges, half brother, James Warren, nephew, Andy Warren, niece, Marilyn Edge and husband Mike.
Scotlin is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Jean Chambers; sons, Gary Chambers and wife Karla of Stigler, Oklahoma, Steven Chambers and wife Debbie of Columbia, Kentucky; daughters, Patricia Vann and husband Rodney of Lufkin, Texas, Beverly Collard and husband Lance of Lake Jackson, Tx; brother, Jimmie Chambers of Jasper, Tx; sisters, Evelyn Parker of Brazoria, Tx, Corine Lovell and husband Tommy of Huntington, Tx; half sister, Nora Lee Gabriel; grandchildren, Amanda Watson, Dakota Chambers, Whitney Vann, Scottie Collard, Morgan Vann, Julie Chambers, Mathew Collard, Shelby Collard, Kayla Chambers; numerous nieces and nephews.
Scotlin has been a resident of Etoile most of his life. Scotlin enjoyed the outdoor life as a commercial fisherman and an avid hunter. He retired in 2012 after approximately 40 years of commercial fishing. He loved spending time on his farm tending to his cattle. His family was his greatest love, and he enjoyed fun times with his friends.
All who knew Scotlin will miss him and his special laugh.
A funeral service will be conducted by Bro. Glen Morton and assisted by Rev. Ronnie Frankens at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel on Saturday May 4, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
Memorial contributions may be offered to Etoile United Pentecostal Church, 168 Hwy 103, Etoile, Texas 75944.
